+1 on death counter, with games like these, it really adds to the sense of competition and self progress... IWBTG wouldn't have been the same without it, and it was one small detail I thought was missing from Burger King 1. At least show the death counter at the end... although, that would kill me, wondering how many deaths it's been all the way till the end. Too ADD to keep track; I'd likely get wrapped up in a section of the game and stop keeping track on accident.
Also, I've never heard anyone say C++ is annoying and go back to ASM... I've done a bit of C++, no ASM, but my CompSCI major buddy... well, I know he likes Java more than C++, but when you mention ASM, he gets this look in his eyes instantly as if he's warning that you're going into dangerous territory. He says it's the most tedious language.

Bionic Commando style arm! Or A JETPACK!! Like a booster pack with limited capacity that recharges when you are on the ground! That would be an awesome way of hiding a lot of secrets earlier on, before you get the jetpack. You could also put in some short cuts that are jetpack-only, so when you have to backtrack, it takes less time. Like you did with the double jump. And I vote yellow too. It would be a little Donkey Kong, but I think it would look good.
