This is my review for the Legend of Zelda Links Crossbow Training with free Zapper Controller. System:Wii MSRP $19.99 Rating: Teen

I was delighted to get this game for free with my 25$ toys r us giftcard I got for pre ordering galaxy there. But either way its cheap, only 20$ for this game packaged with the wii zapper. First let me talk about the packaging, the wii zapper is basically a plastic shell with an added trigger, nunchuk cord storage, that you hold the wii remote and nunchuk in. The game comes packaged in a wii sports type case, not a full case. Now lets talk about the game, the game consists of 9 levels, with 3 stages each, the main goal is racking up a high score on each level. How you do so is by finding secrets such as golden rupees hidden in pots, bonus targets, or fairys, or the main way to do so is by racking up a combo of hitting a number of targets/enemies in a row without missing.

Now the cool thing about this game is there are a variety of different stages with its own secrets. While the first stage always involves shooting targets in some form, the game still mixes it up wuite a bit. Sometimes it will be just targets popping up, or you will be riding on epona shooting targets, shooting targets as they fall down waterfalls at Lake Hylia etc. It never gets boring.

Stage 2 usually involves doing a defend type game where link is stationary in the middle of a circular area and you must shoot at enemies coming at you from all angles, but luckily link can rotate 360 degrees on these levels and is equipt with a radar. Also there might be a few flashing green enemies, taking one of these bad boys down gets you 100 arrows for an automatic power up that turns links crossbow into a bad ass machine gun, thats right Wolfos, take this bitch (ahem now back to the review)! There are a few times where you are on a vehicle (horse carriage/boat) and must protect it, shooting at enemies while it drives, but dont worry, there is no 360 degrees of terror.

The third type of mode is Ranger where you move with the nunchuk while shooting. While this mode is awesome, the controls can get frustrating, and its very hard to rack up points on these stages. It is still fun though, I especially love the recreation of the Twilight Princess Hidden Village Shootout. There is also a bomb arrow attack if you charge down your shot for long enough, this is especially effective on armored enemies.

What never ceases to amaze me is the amount of secrets in this game, its pretty mindblowng. Add in a few bosses, and medals including bronze gold and platinum for the completists, and youve got yourself a pretty enjoyable experience. Now is there possibly a stage 10 for all platimum medals? I have yet to find out.

9/10

games cool... Gun Sucks.... just doesnt have a good feel... after playing the game with the gun and without, I noticed that I had much better scores when I played without it... Very cool looking and an interesting concept but nothing I will ever use again.

Sounds like they made yet another "Super Scope 6" but this time they tried pushing it through abusing the LOZ license.

Whether it's great or just good, at least it's something different. A large part of the NES's charm to me is that you can find any number of alternate and even bizzare controller configurations.

I like the game quite a bit, its great training. The zapper feels small to me too, but I do have big hands.

This is so awesome, i got it all for free too due to the fact that I got a free 25$ giftcard when I bought galaxy. I would definetely pay 19.99 for this though if I had to. Remember gamestop has it for 5$ more so dont get it there, the game is just fun, beating your score, revisting the classic moments in TP.

I got mine yesterday. I love the way the zapper feels but I think its easier to play without it. The game was a lot more than I expected. Overall very impressed.

I finally got a chance to play with mine tonight. I have a few beefs with the zapper. First I have a Wii charge station and the Wii mote will not work with the zapper without taking the back off the controller, plus the wrist strap gets in the way if you wear it, or if you don't wear it.

I didn't have any problems using it when it was just shooting targets, and done pretty well with it. When you have to do the stages and use the numchuck to walk I was terrible while using the zapper but done fine without it. It is worth 20 bucks for Links Crossbow training alone, but I really don't see me using the zapper to much, kinda awkward and to small for me.

Dude that totally voids your warranty!

Did you try it with configuration #2?  I just picked this up last night, so I haven't, but I wonder if it'd be any different with the Nunchuk not attached?

Also, I would have like to have seen the Zapper be a new controller all its own.  I dig the idea of controller expansion, but I wouldn't have a problem paying extra cash for a standaone Zapper that didn't require assembly each time

I played last night trying a few different techniques and I done the best hands down using the controller normally without the zapper at all. Although very neat it just seems way to awkward IMO. I have 4 nunchuks so I just leave 1 of them in the zapper all the time and use another one if I want to play Galaxy or something else so that hasn't been an issue for me.

WHile that does seem like a good idea its due to the technology that nintendo can produce add on accesories for cheap, cause this would probably be 50$ or something if it was its own controller. and would take up more space.

The zappers just too small if you ask me, plus its really strangely shaped. I wonder if one of these would be better?

So, this just comes with the game and the plastic piece to put your Wiimote and nunchuk in? Or does it come with extra controllers?

it still comes down to the fact that alot of games require you to hit the "A" button alot and with the zappers its really hard to do... also, shaking the gun is alot harder than shaking the remote itself... I think it would work alot better than the zapper though so I guess it could be worth a shot...
