I get lightheaded and my eyes begin to hurt a bit.

Good time to stop. Practicing is a think, hurt yourself is another, completely different.
It is a game, is supposed to be fun, and recreational.

Same advice goes to James Robot: if play the game feels like a duty, take a break!
One day, two days, one week, two weeks, whatever break you need!
When you feel like you wish to play the game again, likely you will play better, because your brain is fresh. Human brain dislike repetitive tasks, that's why you don't always play the same video game (i.e. the one that you consider the bast), but rather you play the game you are in the mood for (whitin the ones you consider fun to play).

Take it as a challange, but mostly as a fun activity!

Yeah it's been about a week. I don't play for very long sessions either, just a couple of games at a time. Ready to get after it again.

To be honest, haven't played in a while, but generally I get my best game about four or five games in. I'll peak, and then further attempts go downhill. The music has subtle effects too. If it's too catchy, I'll start making moves in time with the beat, like a rythm game. This is bad as you don't plan out strategy well. Perhaps certain tracks are more conducive to higher scores or it could be subconscious. You want the game to last longer when it's playing your favorite tune. Since my play sessions increased in length, I rarely hear the latter tracks anymore unless I use Select to advance them manually. Then there's than one track that doesn't loop leading to awkward silence. In truth I haven't played in a few weeks specifically to avoid burnout. I would like, long after the contest ends, to put the cart in my system and play for enjoyment. Or post the first ever human x3 score to AVS scoreboard!

Not to dash your hopes and dreams...   ... but I predict quite a few X-9-8-7 games before you manage an X2, and you will look back at this post and realize the X2 was a bit farther away than you thought

Or he could get extremely lucky like I did and make X2 after only his second attempt at making X. How long does this contest run anyway?

Analog Nightmare, I posted a video about making it to 2X. It may contain some helpful insight. Always try to keep the high number in the corner and "snake" the chains. Good luck to you!

Bump. Been two months since last score posted. Maybe time to close the contest and send out prizes?

Sorry, as stated, they are supposed to go out when the next game comes out in order to save on shipping. Good news being that that should mean that we are pretty close  , although it means that I need to get on it!

That's awesome! Also how's Spook-o-tron progress going?

Quite well! I sent the near final build to the testers this morning. I made some gameplay changes and updated the main build with the Demo and Editor improvements, but I keep finding little things to tweak and re-test. We just need a few more levels, so if you're looking to submit some, now is the time.

Picked up a copy at PRGE yesterday.
Decided to give it a run while the baby was asleep.
2 games in and I got this...we will have to see how I do when I play more...then again...I also picked up a Switch and Bomberman...so I will have to split my gaming attention between the two...
anywho 13065 is a starting score for me.

Yeah, I will admit I can get hooked on this game..and since you only need on hand to play it, the game is perfect to play when putting kid to sleep. I figure that gives me time to play at least one game a night if all goes well. It won't be long until I get the 3x score posted.

I should have made you a version where the controls were flipped and you could hold it upright! Rated P for parents.
