The brain is like a muscle in some ways as the more you use it the stronger it gets, but also when playing 0-to-X, after several play sessions, especially as game length has increased, I begin to get a "mental lactic burn" after recording several X scores in a single play session. I get lightheaded and my eyes begin to hurt a bit.
Good time to stop. Practicing is a think, hurt yourself is another, completely different.
It is a game, is supposed to be fun, and recreational.
Same advice goes to James Robot: if play the game feels like a duty, take a break!
One day, two days, one week, two weeks, whatever break you need!
When you feel like you wish to play the game again, likely you will play better, because your brain is fresh. Human brain dislike repetitive tasks, that's why you don't always play the same video game (i.e. the one that you consider the bast), but rather you play the game you are in the mood for (whitin the ones you consider fun to play).
Take it as a challange, but mostly as a fun activity!
