Same dude. I can't believe how many grown adults are losing their shit chasing these things down. They look awful and their function is negligible. IMO. If you want a good figurine look at figma figures.

I don't think you can compare the two. Amiibos are about $13 and have a function attached to them.
Figma's, while very detailed and of better quality, are just $50 paperweights. Apples and oranges.
They also don't have figmas of all the characters Nintendo is bringing over. I've had no luck with figmas. Unless you're buying a character with lots of armor, or a robot, Figmas look like garbage. I'd rather spend $80 and get a legit, fixed-pose figure instead of paying $50 for a Figma that has those ugly joints. Nothing looks smooth on them or natural on them. They're almost as bad as the recent Sonic figures and Street Fighter IV figures. This is also coming from someone who has a couple of them.
I think Amiibos, for the price, look amazing. They're of better quality than most gashapon you can get, and they're of significantly higher quality than most of the toys Nintendo has been shipping to the USA for years. Plus, you get the added value of them being actually useful instead of just another figure.
I, however, think they won't hold their (overinflated) value for more than a couple of months. It's mostly because a lot of kids are probably asking for them for Christmas.
