I may be interested in a SD2SNES as well, but I;ll have to check back and see.

Got ya added to nes and tg16. I hope we can round up enough people for sd2snes. I find the super ever drive to be a vastly inferior project despite the price difference.
Gents,

Make sure you are doing your homework on the SD2SNES.  It does NOT support the SA-1 or SuperFX chips.  That's most of all the really good titles that required chip enhancement.  The only games worth a damn the DSP-1 added were Pilot Wings and Mario Kart and the Super Everdrive has the socket to add a DSP-1 if you really want it.  The DSP-2, 3, 4, ST-010, and S-RTC only supported 1 game each (and they arent particularly good ones).  To me, all the SD2SNES really gives you is the CX4 chip which supports MegaMan X2 and X3 which are awesome titles, but not worth the extra almost $100 (IMO).

And dont believe the hype about future firmware upgrades.  I've been following this thing for almost a year and havent seen any yet.  I wonder if the developer finally gave up or just lost interest.  You can read more about the compatibility issues here:

http://sd2snes.de/blog/compatibility

His latest update was back in June. There was a firmware update in March and prior to that was November and July,  so that shows updates are not a frequent thing.  Also, check the status button on his page.  SA1 is still up in the air, and that has a huge number of great titles, but theres some other items hes still working on.  Big note of interest is that even if this guy does happen scamper off to the land of no-internets or keel over or something, its open source.  Anyone can start working on implimenting new things for it.

Schweaty does bring up a good concern, but I've also been researching this a year and deem it worth the extra.  Just for the sake of ease heres the features of both from retrogates site.  I'd pay the extra for better compatibility with the chance for more and faster loading.

Super Everdrive v2 features:

  • Max. ROM size up to 7Mbyte
  • Return to menu after reset
  • SRAM auto backup on SD card
  • Supported SD/MMC up to 32GB
  • FAT16 and FAT32 are supported
  • GameGenie cheat codes
  • Simple menu
  • Connection to PC and any additional software is not require
  • USB port for developers (optional)

SD2SNES Features:

  • SD/SDHC/SDXC support (tested up to 64GB; no exFAT support so SDXC cards must be reformatted using FAT32)
  • High quality push-push memory card slot
  • Fast ROM loading (~9MB/s)
  • Fast menu navigation
  • Directories are sorted automatically, no need for FAT sorting tools
  • High resolution menu (512×224) for adequate display of long file names
  • Real Time Clock
  • Supports ROM size up to 128MBit (96Mbit actually implemented)
  • Automatic near-time SRAM saving to SD Card (while the game runs). Some limitations apply:
    • near-time saving is switched to periodic saving when a game is found to use the SRAM as work RAM.
    • Automatic saving is disabled when MSU1 is used. SRAM is saved on reset.
  • Enhancement chip support (see below for implementation status)
  • SuperCIC key (SNES CIC clone):
    • enables operation on unmodified consoles of all regions
    • supports software 50/60Hz switching on SuperCIC enhanced consoles only (to be performed by sd2snes firmware, not yet implemented there)
  • Auto region patching: eliminates “This Game Pak is not designed…” messages regardless of 50/60Hz setting

Enhancement chips

Each supported enhancement chip can be used in conjunction with MSU1.

Implemented:

  • BS-X memory map / Satellaview base unit registers (clock)
  • DSP1 / 1b
  • DSP2
  • DSP3
  • DSP4
  • ST-010
  • Cx4
  • MSU1
  • S-RTC

I've also done the same research on the mega everdrive vs. the everdrive-MD.  There're numerous people I've spoken with that have both (for snes and/or genesis) and cant really say anything bad about either but people tend to like their more expensive counterparts slightly more.  I can't recall anyone saying anything bad about any of the choices honestly.

Just think of it as buying a value brand vs. a premium brand.  Sometimes, If you like something enough, its worth splurging the extra.

Are you a member of any other forums and can show good buy/sell/trade history? Please don't link me to your eBay.

In the op I meant it when I said put your money where your mouth is. I'm hesitant to add someone to the list who created an account just to join group pricing. I do not want ant single user to prevent the group purchase from happening.

Sorry, I'm new to these forums but I have a lot of feedback on neo-geo.com and shmups (shmups.system11.org), and a little at arcadeotaku and racketboy all under the same username.

We haven't hit a quantity of 10 on anything yet. We have 9 people on Turbo ED list. So it seems that will be the first cart we do. Market spreading the word. I can't do the other ones until they hit 10.

I'm thinking of emailing retrogate and seeing if we can mix and match to fulfill the other carts wait list if more people don't jump on board.

Status Update:

I have emailed the Contact Us email address over at RetroGate.com.
I asked them with the current statistics we have on our waitlists if we can get the cheaper pricing even though we don't have 10+ of any single EverDrive.

Consider this a bump, but please, for my sanity, change "there" to "their".

Considering this is a Nintendo forum, most people probably already either have a Powerpak or actually have copies of all the games they want :-)  I'm actually interested in the tg16 one too and I don't even have a system for it XD  Is it too late to add on to the list now that you hit your goal?  It's 10+ right?
