I've never seen anything like that portable 486 tower, that's really rad. This was back when laptops were thousands and thousands of dollars for something with the processor equivalent of a game-n-watch, and 3 1/2" diskettes were the new tech for data xfer. And if you had a 14.4 modem you were able to download a nudie girl picture in under 5 minutes.

Sweet deals man. Never seen a computer like that compaq before.

Wow you're right, back then Ethernet was only that mysterious thing that all the expensive Macs used to talk to their server

so is that a Game Boy-style one-color LCD "monitor" on the front of that thing?

i'm not sure, it powers on but there's an issue with the display

Retro stuff and cool. How much does that "portable" computer weigh? I had one that was really heavy

That's awesome. I still have a Compaq Portable II (I think it's called) that's not nearly as fancy as yours. Much smaller screen, no ethernet jack, etc. Very nice pickup on the G5, too! I sold one about a year ago for a little over $1000. That's one hell of a gift you got.
