I'm still halfway through building the ship in Malhalla. The copious amounts of text has slowed my desire to play since it feels like I play 5 mins of game to every 10 mins of quickly sped through dialog (I can't imagine having to read all of this).

The other thing that sort of annoys me is that this game is mostly a fetch quest now. Most of the building tasks were removed or so huge you required the town to do it, with barely much else to build, except maybe the 1 or 2 rooms here and there.

Overall, it's a solid game, but I think 1 is the better game of the 2, even with the improvements of 2.

Beat it last night, absolutely loved this game. Its a perfect sequel, took out the annoying stuff from 1 and improved pretty much everything else. The story was fun, the characters amazing, just an all around treat to play. Im gonna keep playing until I beat all the objectives, close to 100 hours so far.

Not very spoilerish tip; when you find the pirate ship in Malhalla, check the pot in the brig. Theres a ridiculous sword in there. 96 attack power.

Crud, can I go back to get it?

You can buy a pattern for a better sword.

How the heck do you kill those bombrocks in moombrooke to get the shards? They always explode well before I have their power drained.

Gah! I didn't know you could run! Now that I've beaten the game, I started watching a few videos about it and discovered stamina isn't just for breathing underwater but for running too. Can't believe I've just been strolling through this game this whole time. Still got one explorer's shore to unlock. I plan to run through that island!

Yeah it's becoming a chore for me at this point. Fetch this, read 50 screens of text, rinse and repeat. Combat is just plain no fun. There isn't really much challenge but some of the battles take forever. Just stand there swinging your sword 500 times.

Yeah. While the mechanics are overall better, DQ Builders 1 is the better game. Once I get all the trophies for 2, I’ll prob never play it again. I’m always playing the first one though. Nothing beats actually restoring a town to its former glory (or even better than before).

Sure, this game has more impressive buildings, but either the AI is building it, or you’re gonna spend hours building literally one thing.

The battle on the island of awakening, where they have you build 100 traps in that channel first. I built all those awesome traps then the idiot townspeople all charged right threw them and engaged the enemy on the beach. None of the enemies actually made it to the traps, they just stayed on the beach fighting the AI townspeople. That battle was annoying!

Same. You're supposed to use the banner to bring them back to you, but even that didn't prevent it.

The tablet quests are definitely a bore chore, too. Haven't even made it to the island of Builders, or whatever it's called.
