Why this game isn't for 2 players is a mystery. At the least, they fixed it in the sequel and made it a 4 players game.

I'm a touch more rusty than I thought. I got to 42, but pretty sure I can get into the 60s with a little more practice.

It seems a big part of this is memorizing the tracks. I never know what turns are coming. If it was zoomed out a shit ton I would be fine.

Okay gang after playing last night I'm ready for some smack talk.

YOU GUYS ARE GOING DOWN ... to the finals ... probably without me. =)

I only managed 30K after a few attempts last night. I will improve for sure as I get used to the tracks and such, but it's looking like another uphill climb for me just like Joust. At least I enjoy playing this game way more than Joust (for now).

It really sucks that a couple of little mistakes can end a run just like that. Also I don't like how races end immediately after the leader finishes.

Every time you spell NINTENDO it is worth 40k points, and 30k is enough that it means you've cleared at least 8 levels so with some planning you can nail an upgrade and make the leap to 70k.

Track 12 is where it really starts getting ugly, IMO, based on the excess of oil and limited availability of roll cages (and since enemies can steal your roll cages).

That makes me feel a little bit better.  I think I made it up to Level 11.  Lots of 2nd and 3rd place finishes.  With repetition those will become 1st places.

Yeah, you can't expect to get much farther than that without upgrading the car, since your component upgrades will top-out without a better chassis.

Focus on mapping where the letter is in every level.

It is the single most important thing you can grab in each race, and you should focus on snagging it on your first lap, to be safe.

It is worth WAY more than finishing bonuses.

Sounds like good advice.  Thank you!  Are you just being nice to me because you know you'll beat me this week?  =P

Half of the battle is recognizing exactly what the pickups are and what they look like since the game moves so fast.

Ha, no, I like to see everybody do their best, to see what we're really capable of. (and my current high is over 160k, so I have a LITTLE bit of breathing room )

And besides, I don't need to beat you, I just need to not come in last

Technically, if I am the bottom rung of the ladder so far then yes you do need to beat me, hahaha!

I like to think I have a decent track record at performing well enough on games I have had little to no experience with prior to the contest.  I know that doesn't help me much with trying to stay afloat in the tournament but that's okay.  RC Pro Am is a game I have wanted to spend some time playing through so if that's all I get out of it this week then it is a success.  But I still wanna WIN!  =)

This game is so hit-and-miss!

The wrong error during the last lap and you're unrecoverably fucked!

If the bottom rung ends up at 160k, we're going to have had a hell of a week, I think.

But anything is possible.

God damn it... I wish I wasn't so terrible at this game. There's so much Ricky Bobby based smack talk I'm dying to lay down on you guys. Hopefully pretty soon I can unleash some shake and bake!

The only one pulling a shake-and-bake in this game is that orange mother fucker (and occasionally the green guy, too )

The worst part about that orange mofo isn't that he turns on the afterburner at random times. It's that high pitched squeal when he turns the afterburners on and is zipping past you, as if to say" eat my dust, bitches!" I hate him so much. He lapped me this morning when I was playing.

Yeah.  I don't mind coming in 2nd.  Really.  Point-wise it isn't THAT big of a deal.

What I DO mind is missing an upgrade or letter and not being able to reach it on the last lap because the orange guy turbo'd and lapped everybody, cutting the race short.

What sets that little orange dip shit off? When you fire to many missiles at just him or could it be the other cars too?

I don't know.

There are a bunch of somewhat-hidden rules mechanics in this game.

For instance, it is unclear by what rules the enemies get vehicle component upgrades.

But since they have no direct way to retaliate to your weapons, turbo-boosts might be what they get instead.

Does the game have an ending? I've only seen someone make it up to level 63.

No.

You can loop it forever if you are good enough.

While it conceivably goes to infinity, I don't think any human player could get into the 80s or 90s. I've gotten into the 60s fairly regularly, with a few times into the 70s. At that point the AI becomes so cheap there is not a way to win that is humanly possible. Imagine all the cars going the speed of that orange turd every track.

I wasn't saying it was achievable.

Just saying that there wasn't an actual ending.

150763. Obviously, I'm going to improve on my score (I hope). I'd set my goal at 200K for this one. Also, it's a great game and I'd like to check out the second one... if I can find it for a decent price
Also, why did Nintendo and Rare lie to us when they said there were 32 tracks in the game? Aren't there like 24 tracks?
