I didn't play the ROM, but I did read the article and check some of the gameplay video. Very well written and informative, and those are definitely some ridiculous scrolling speeds on the NES. Definitely the fastest scrolling I've ever seen, though I've probably only played a small percentage of the NES library (~50ish games).

They made their own tribute to it. It was ProgrammingAce. Don't know why he disappeared, although it seems he was at MGC.

Neat story. Definitely fitting for today haha. Strange game for sure. The sprite animations are pretty smooth, some of the smoothest I think I've seen on the NES.

The Comp Cart is homebrew and an unfinished project, so would probably pale in comparison. I personally haven't played it, but haven't heard anyone raving about it. All the same, I would love to have both.

Also, I think you can download a demo from Nesworld, but it wouldn't be the same as the full comp cart

The other news is that Programming Ace has finished his Homebrew, so you might just hold out for that
