The postman finally dropped my game off at 6:45pm CST. I immediately retreated to my bedroom to play it on my NES for a bit. I may do a playthrough video later on the AV Famicom which is put up right now. It's nice that the surface mount green LEDs appear to be true green rather than the limey green LEDs like in previous releases.
I have digital turbo on my NES Arcade controller and used the "slow motion" function to see how far the game goes. There are 16 levels, which repeat ad-infinitum, so no final ending. I nearly made it to the end of stage 8 @ 10,070 pts, but when I used the "slow motion" cheat on my NES arcade controller, I was able to make it to stage 25 @ 34,510 pts by toggling the start button every other frame and playing through the game at 30Hz.
I still say this game is by far the most awesome xmas cart ever made. The colors on the final NES cart are also a bit nicer and more fleshed out so it seems to have a bit extra polish than the demo ROM. I just wish the game would take me back to the title screen without resetting it.
Boy, you are a mad man for these Christmas games, huh? To everyone who got annoyed with Ay Jay here, I think he just loves Christmas games and took his exuberance a bit too far. I've been poking around Atari Age this week and he is all over the place there trying to get his hands on all of the 2600 Christmas homebrews. I doubt he was trying to "look cool" or cause any harm.
Anyway, my cart arrived today. Just like last year I won't be opening it until Christmas Eve. Cheers to RetroZone for the fast delivery!
