This should be a fun competition. I don't have much experience at all with this game, so it should be interesting to see how far I can even get in the game, let alone getting far by shooting as few enemies as possible.

Kill the mid-level boss before it forms. Bonus 50k points. I come out of Area A with 125k+ points. The H hidden boxes are worth 2k a piece, and the <--> green arrows are worth 1k each. There are more incredibly high score things further into the game, but I don't expect many people to even get far enough on one life to see them.

There's a trick to it. 

DO NOT SHOOT IT until it flashes white (starts to close). Position yourself right in front of the middle section, and wait for it to start to close, then mash shoot. It has 8 "hits", but any shots on it BEFORE it flashes white and starts to close will increase it's "hits" by 1. So if you're shooting at it hoping to be damaging it, you're actually powering it up, and going to get yourself killed.

Yeah really the only one I didn't tell them about is the million points cleopatra statue in the violet areas. And the vertically aligned arrows worth 80k per 10 consecutive, wracking up a good 160-240k in a single go.
