I think it is well past the point of legitimate bids. Trolls are coming out of the woodwork do to the exposure I'm sure.

Had to catch up on this thread after seeing it at 22K today. I bet Chumlee's wishing he had bought the nicer one when he had a chance

It made its way to the front page of Yahoo *smh* I can't believe anyone would pay more for this than they would for a brand new car, they have to be fake bids.

It can just be silly hype... and I've had people over 1,000 feedback not pay me either. No way the bids are real at this point, I expect some retractions soon.

Is this troll style of bidding popular in other hobbies? Like, do people who collect classic Cadillacs have to deal with this bullshit all the time too? I wish there was some sort of accountability that kept people from doing this sort of thing.

Well supposedly you can get 3 non-paying strikes on eBay before your account is suspended.

The publicity is both a blessing and a curse. Anyone who was legitimately interested already knew it was up. Then about a million people who think it is aburd to pay $100, let alone $5,000, for an NES cart with a torn label saw it. I'm sure some of them are bidding out of spite.

I didn't check all of the links but I read about it on Gamestop today, and about 4 out of every 5 comments was negative. The average person is not a collector and will be spiteful when they see "junk" selling for large amounts.

14 yr. olds care about Comic Books and Baseball Cards though...so do we see this troll bidding on Cover-Only Action Comics #1's and Faded Honus Wagners?

Do they? Do you think half has many kids know what expensive comics are that know what expensive video games are? I wouldn't bet on it. Theres no youtube shows where cool hip guys show off their comic collections and brag about their exclusive and rare comics that they bought at a flea market for $1.

The high bidder (with over 1000 feedback) also placed bids on a Ford and silver coins less than 24 hours ago. However, he can't be serious. 32k, give me a break. You could buy two nice carts for that price.

Ebay should ban every one of those assholes bidding it up like that. Of course they won't though, since they basically facilitate fraud and criminals.

Should be an interesting auction, this one has been around the community for a long while.  Thoughts on possible sale price?

Before this thread I would have guessed 25+ grand was a reasonable* expectation considering the market fundamentals.  Not too surprising it's now rising above 32 grand.  Cheap collectors are eventually going to have to accept the fact that the market isn't even close to the top right now.

Umm, no?  I own a very, very nice grey NWC myself.  Want to buy it for $25k?  You could easily flip it down the road for more, right?

Selfishly, I'd love it if you were right, but it just isn't the reality.

You could say the same exact thing about a Stadium Events CIB and your expectations would remain inaccurate.

The average collector won't be able to anticipate the market.  It instead takes one that is well-versed in multiple macroeconomic disciplines to understand the current market fundamentals.

Are you seriously offering this to me for $25k?  Got some pics?

*Edit Not that I have that kind of money anyway.  I'm trying to pay for my parents medical bills.

And fundamentals would those be?

edit: I guess I should be more specific. The fundamentals of used video games, Nintendo items, NES games or NWC items?
