This game is...interesting. Probably would have blown my mind as a kid, with the 3D glasses, but now it leaves something to be desired.

Took me a few tries to actually figure out how to generate points

Wait till you hit level 6... lol I actually just spent 2 weeks trying to beat this game before reading the manual and figuring out you can continue just by holding the a button.

Well, obviously we need a "no continues" rule, as usual.

I don't think it would help get a higher score since your score gets reset, it's good for practicing the levels though. But since I didn't know you could do that I got alot of practice at this game over the last couple weeks

Wow, is the color depth really that high on the SMS?

Must be.  I just saw "Sega" and "1985" and thought it was SMS.  But it looks like it has WAY too many colors for that.

I didn't use continues, but this game has a couple levels where you can get 2 extra lives for each time you die.  Should we make it a rule not to use those?

It sure is. The SMS had a big advantage in the way it displayed colors, according to its wiki article. It seemed to be the superior tech to the NES, but it just lacked the powerhouse titles.

I think you need to look at the video a little closer.  The SMS title screen had a red robot, and lacked about half of the colors shown in Robin's screenshot.

Anybody has an idea about this issue. Do we need to apply our so effective 1 life rule on this contest as well?

Cuz, you know *then* I would need to make a new score   I don't know the "usual" rules for these things.

Guile - the 1-life rule might be a good idea. It would speed things up a bit as well. If we did that, then my posted score is obviously nullified, as well.

I can wrap the score using multiple lifes (and was in the process of doing it... sigh), but yeah, that sounds good. I'll just go hit the reset button on this score

my problem is that stupid 6-1 level. I mean, what the heck? I have been able to get on top of the pillars twice out of probably 50 attempts (and both lead to death within 1 minute)

Great! 1 life rule applied.
I agree, speeding up things is always a good idea.

There is a second place where you have to jump the pillars on that level too. I will tell the only way I have been able to do both of them in one life:
You make a running jump as far as you can, and jump from your first step on the last square before the pit, hold jump and aim for the pillars
This seems to work for me for both pits.

Is it me, or did the controls get even worse since the 1 death rule?
