C/P from this thread: http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...
(I would have quoted this, but apparently you can't quote posts in locked threads)

From Tommy:

"Holy shit! Yeah... those are my carts. And the "Tommy T." label is my handwriting. The "Golf Power" was an old cartridge casing that I erased over... I was a game tester for Golf Power so when the game was completed I used the cart to put an NES sound engine on it for when I was working on Color A Dinosaur!

It's actually a pretty historical cartridge because Color A Dinosaur is always heralded as the worst game I ever worked on... which drives the price of the actual NES cart up because so many people try to find it. I've signed a ton of those things. The complete NES Color A Dinosaur story can be found here: http://www.tallarico.com/index.php?s=coloradinosaur

There are a handful of videos on YouTube of the game.

Also... that was right during the time when I went from a game tester to a composer (which is why I used my Greg Norman cart).

Pretty crazy!!

Make sure to pass on this info and the story with the cart. It's a pretty interesting piece."

I remember his DOS games back when I was a teenager, he had some announcer digitized to say his voice with a big graphic, always stuck in my head. "Tommy Tallarico Studios Presents!"

Fun Facts:

- Tommy Tallarico is Steven Tyler's cousin.
- Tommy received recognition in 2008 by the Guinness Book of World Records for the individual who has worked on the most video games (272 at the time!)
- Tommy hated Color a Dinosaur, and at the time he was working on the music for it, referred to it at the office as "Color a Herpes Sore"

Major thanks to MrMark, and BeaglePuss for releasing this!!! I've been having quite a fun time with this thing!

I think I've figured out what all the nobs and buttons in this game do. When I get a chance I might make a post to see what others figured out.

Checked it out. I liked the 3rd sound on the first page then press select to see the second. And then start at any time to restart the track. Then I was messing with the verbado(?). Very cool. Thanx again. What is everyone else doing with it? Can anyone explain it better, or what he was using it for.

He threw the sound engine on the cart while he was working on color a dinosaur. Straight from Tommy's site "In 2010 someone found (at a swap meet!) my original cartridge that I used to compose the music for Color A Dinosaur! The seller contacted me and told me that he bought it for $1 and sold it for over $1,000! Crazy! You can see pictures and video of the cartridge here..."

Jeez, I didn't know who this guy was either till I saw his picture. Saw him play at VG Live. He seems like a cool enough guy! I wonder if he has any other proto's kicking around from his NES days?

I know, crazy, right?!

He's also the guy who does Video Games Live.  I met him after the show and he complimented me on my windwaker shirt, ha.  Cool guy.

Oh yes, and thanks for the ROM, it will be fun to play with

**Chances are I made some sort of mistake, but to the best of my knowlege all the information should be accurate. **

Unofficial Tommy T's Instructions!

Up/Down  = Moves between the different areas
Start  = Starts Selected Song
Select  = Brings up the Instrument Preset Edit Page
A/B = + / -

Voice 1 = Square 1 Channel
Voice 2 = Square 2 Channel
Voice 3 = Triangle Channel
Voice 4 = Noise Channel

ON
 - 00 = Off (Mute this channel)
 - 01 = On (This channel is heard)

INST = Presets for each channel, like different settings on a keyboard
 - A/B - Change Value

Instrument Preset Editing:

Amplitude  is the size of the vibration, this determines how loud the sound is.
Duty Cycle is the proportion of time during which a component, device, or system is operated.
Sweep is an oscillator switching between two frequencies over a set time
Vibrato is a musical effect used to add expression and vocal-like qualities to instrumental music.

Amplitude (00-15) = controls the volume of this instrument (00-15)
Duty Cycle (00-03) = 00 = 12.5%, 01 = 25%, 02 = 50%, 03 = 75%

Sweep Enable = 00 = off, 01 = on)
Sweep Direction = (00 = Descending, 01 = Ascending)
Sweep Delay (00-07) = Amount of sweep time delay

Vibrato Enable = Turn on/off vibrato effect (00-off / 01-on)
Vibrato Amplitude (00-99) = Intensity of Vibrato effect
Vibrato Frequency (00-99) = The frequency the Vibrato is applied to (pitch)

Envelope Section:
Many synths and electro instruments use an ADSR envelope to modulate some aspect of the instrument's sound, often its loudness, over time.
(A)ttack - How fast the sound reaches full volume after the sound is activated (after a key is pressed)
(D)ecay - How fast the sound drops to the sustain level after the initial peak (A).
(S)ustain - The "constant" volume at which the sound remains following the decay until the note is released.
(R)elease - How fast the sound fades when a note ends (a piano key is released).
*Note: In this sound editor there is no Sustain setting.
This is done so that when you hit a key on a keyboard its not always a constant volume being played back no matter how hard or soft you hit it. By adding this element of pressure sensitivity it gives the instrument a more human feel and rhythmic sound.

note: One or the other (possibly both) needs to be enabled for effects to be heard
Hardware Envelope - (00-off / 01-on) Must be enabled to hear the effects of the Envelope below
Software Envelope   - (00-off / 01-on) Must be enabled to hear the effects of the Envelope below

Attack Length (00-99) = adjusts how quickly a note sounds
Attack Amplitude (00-99) = adjusts the amplitude of attack
Decay Length (00-99) = adjusts a notes decay time
Decay Amplitude (00-99) = adjusts the amplitude of decay
Release Length (00-99) = adjusts a notes release time
Release Amplitude (00-99) = adjusts the amplitude of the release

This is really cool! Another great, historic find for how NES music was developed back in the day.

Also, this runs fine for me in nestopia...
