Nice work, good luck on PGA Tour, I bet it is tougher than Nintendo golf.

Incidentally on the list of tough 4-point games, I've been playing side pocket and square deal. The latter really can screw with you. Side Pocket I am getting the hang of finally, I can get the world champion points requirement, but I can't sink the last trick shot. Then since you only get one attempt, it's back to the drawing board of getting another chance. Not an easy game to clear, takes a lot of practice.

Man, I started to write up a FAQ for Square Deal a while back, confident that I could come up with a solid strategy for winning every round. Getting the target score can be hard, but if you clear all 52 cards, your score doesn't matter, you win the round. I thought I could exploit that and focus only on how to do that. Buuuut, it's not easy at all, in fact I don't think I've ever pulled it off.

In going through the old threads, I've found a couple of PAL completions that I didn't have recorded, and even a completion for Tamagotchi, which I thought was a first-clear when I did it.   oh well.

You guys are clearing all these hard titles, and I uhhh, cleared Mickey's Ultimate Challenge. I'll get a pic up when Imgur stops freaking out on me.

A wiki eh? That's certainly more suited to the task than a NA thread. The question I keep asking while going through the old threads is How detailed do we want it? For example, Lazlos' Leap is a puzzle game with 100 puzzles. I have a list of all the solutions (except one that I can't get the minimum moves on!!) that I've been planning to put on GameFAQs. Should they go in the wiki? Should the wiki give some general tips, and "for individual solutions, go to GameFAQs"? Will we go so far as to copy info from other sites, or should it be strictly NA-sourced?

Honestly, some new FAQs would be helpful, some of the ones on gamefaqs seem to only exist to satisfy the existence of an faq, and are sorely lacking in quality. The most notable is Gauntlet 2, where the writer says that he doesn't know what the A button does, a keen indication that he never read the manual, nor does he even know anything about gauntlet (since A is the magic button, only usable when you have a potion), else he would have known what the button did and how you used it. The guide seems like it was written on all of 10 minutes spent playing and researching. But maybe I am just venting at this point though

Mickey's Ultimate Challenge is certainly still a clear. I'm gonna keep working on ninja boy 2 since its more fun than other stuff. Maybe after that, I'll choose to suffer through jungle book or one of the other Simpsons games.

OMGGGGGGGGG, I just beat Terminator 2: Judgement Day!!!!!!!! I did it without any guide, I probably ran the game over 200 times to figure everything out. First time this game has been beaten on nintendoage!

If anybody wants some tips, I can help. I'll say this that once to beat the game once you can pretty much beat it at will, it's all about knowledge of what you have to do to beat it.

There were some text but I couldn't get to my phone fast enough to snap it! Terminator 2 babby!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1...

BTW, this game is hard as balls, but it is a fantastic game once you complete it. It;s a hidden gem for sure. The graphics are supurb and the puzzles are outstanding. This game is as good or better than Super Castlevania (which I completed) and may be even better graphics wise.

First tip: stage 1, don't stop running for anything, and rarely try to kill the robot henchmen trying to kill you. Jump over them, run through them, but don't stop. The bombs being dropped have to detonate while you are literally standing on the bomb, if it is a millimeter from you you won't take damage. Also, your life bar only carries over to stage 2, so you don't have be too careful with it. The erason is stage 2 is the simpliest stage in the entire game and you can easily get past it without much of a life bar.

I beat Kung Fu Master. The first level boss is harder than all other bosses, no joke. This game was not worth the effort it took to find a copy!

Pocket Bomberman is done. It's surprising, I only remembered upon boot that the game was one I had owned when I was a kid. I think I never got further than the second world though. What's surprising to me is how easy it was now that I was an adult. The only hard part was the final boss, which really got annoying. I'm glad it's over because it was frustrating to do! I also put a high score on the Jump Mode hard game score list, just for good measure.

The main thing to learn how to do in this game is to trust bombs as your platforms, you can jump off of them, so don't fear them too much. Also, be on watch for enemies. Don't look at your bombs, look at your surroundings! On bosses, remote bomb is overpowered, but if you don't have that, then just spam bombs. The final boss has some annoying projectiles, he never telegraphs his moves (except for one where he goes to the top of the screen and rains projectiles), and he teleports constantly around the stage. Just be careful to dodge his attacks and you can win by slowly chipping away at him. Since you can't take any hits without dying, your dodging is paramount to victory.

Also, can I comment on how weird the history of bomberman on the game boy is for the US market? Japan got the fist game as Bomber Boy, but then we got that game as "atomic punk" complete with a weird fusion of bonk, mega man, and a punk rocker furnishing the cover art. Then bomberman GB was released here as some weird official rom hack, turning it from Bomberman GB into Wario Blast (featuring Bomberman, dude got demoted in his own game!) Then they release Bomberman GB2 here as Bomberman GB, and finally Bomberman GB3 wasn't released here at all! At least we got things straightened out by the time the game boy color showed up. Still, what a weird history. This must be what Brazilian master system fans feel when they learn about the origins of some of the famous licensed tectoy releases.

I beat The Real Ghostbusters. This was a fun game. I wasn't expecting this type of game. Originally it was a crazy castle game. I think this puzzle platformer is a perfect fit for gameboy. Thankfully they give you passwords after each level. You can pick up and play over the course of a few days. There are 51 levels then a boss battle. I had to watch a video on how to defeat him. It involved clearing the blocks and then making him follow you. He gets trapped when the blocks reappear. There were only a few levels where I had to look up the location of a certain last spark. Watching a video, it appears that the Garfirld PAL version only has 40 levels. Anyone have recommendations for a similar type of game? I've never played a game like this before.

I beat Chase HQ.
Sorry I couldn't get a picture in time. I didn't expect it to end so abruptly. I love racing games but I did not enjoy this one at all. The controls don't feel good. Pressing down to break is so awkward. Also I feel like I am running into everything. I don't feel like I have enough control on the turns to prevent it from running off the road. This is the first Chase HQ game I've played. I imagine these are better on home consoles.

Nice work, soooo, you won't be doing Super Chase HQ then?

Garfield has fewer levels?? How am I supposed to categorize this stuff if it's not just a simple re-sprite? I've never played through Real Ghostbusters/Garfield but it looks a bit like Mickey Mouse Magic Wands, or of course the Crazy Castle games. You might like Catrap, Krusty's Fun House, BurgerTime Deluxe, or even Milon's Secret Castle.

And yeah, the Game Boy is 30! Happy birthday, old man. I mean boy.

Finally beat Boggle! Won a 25-point Tournament. Charles is always the one to beat. Figures the attempt that I misspelled my name is the one that worked:

Don't hunt for big/hard-to-find words. The CPU seemingly just gets awarded a word list based on a percentage of all possible words. You can check their lists and see how many words they miss that a human would have gotten (tenses, plurals etc) So the best strategy is honestly to scramble and get all the words you can. Quantity over quality. If you can pull in a big enough percentage of the total possible word list, you can usually get a couple more points than Charles, and if you can do it a few rounds in a row, then you win. Hopefully you don't get an unlucky round with lots of huge words that Charles got and not you, but a 25-point tournament is usually short enough that it's not too big a deal to start over.

I'm a huge Boggle nerd and I love how many gameplay options are on this cart. It's considered shovelware but it's in my top 50.

I beat The Humans. I'll get a pic up soon. I did this one last year too, and this time it was way easier. Seemed like there were a lot of things that tripped me up last year that were no problem this year, and one or two new problems that I don't remember from last time.

Does anybody have any leads on a manual for Fastest Lap? I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to make times, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Then again, it seems like the game is known as being brutally demanding for its timing. I might just have to practice a lot to be able to beat it. Figures that the same company behind this game also is responsible for the oh-so-punishing Power Mission.

I can't find a manual scan anywhere. There's one on ebay for $39, and unfortunately that looks like the best deal out there. There's an FAQ on GameFAQs but there's nothing really in it. It does say there's nitro, are you using nitro? I've never really played Fastest Lap myself.

I checked into it some more, I read some Japanese sites (as best as I can with my grade-school ability) and it seems like even there they say that the timing is super unforgiving. It looks like you can win though. I haven't figured out how the nitro works yet, which is one thing I hoped to figure out. I see there's a cheaper Japanese complete copy available on ebay as well, I might just grab that if all else fails.

I decided to start a file in Final Fantasy Adventures the other day, it's pretty fun. I'm optimistic that I'll finish it before the month's end. I'm still slowly working through other games, it's just complicated as usual when I tend to hop between different games often. Whenever a new one gets finished, you'll see it here of course. Next will probably be Battleship, I have to admit, that game does get fun as the levels increase.

Finished Battleship. It got a lot better when you got more power-ups. Something else I realized is there is a trick to the game, I might write an FAQ later as I don't want to say exactly what it is yet, I'm concerned it might spoil the fun for some people.

Nice job, I was never able to stick with Battleship for long. Someday I'll get through it, I just need a good lucky start. An ethical dilemma, to ask for the trick or not...

I've actually been playing Game Boy games every day, I just haven't beaten any of them   Hopefully this week I'll have some victories to post.

I finally beat Frogger! Must have taken a hundred tries total. It's been on my hit list for a long time.

After level 8, it says Congratulations, you have wrapped the levels. Then it puts you back at level 1. But instead of saying Level 1 at the bottom, it now says !!!!! 1.

Also, I went ahead and made a thread for gathering tips and strategies, like we were discussing. Feel free to contribute. We can move it to a wiki or whatever we decide, but for now it's in a thread. Contains PAL and US releases.

I beat Dexterity.   I picked it up again the last few days. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I just learned that you can pick up stunned enemies and throw them into each other. I was doing the game without that and getting impressively far. Once I started tossing enemies around I beat the whole game rather quickly. I also learned a sort of exploit to earn a bunch of extra lives.

The game has a 1P Single mode and a 1P Multi mode. Single mode is 30 levels with a boss at the end. Multi mode is neat, basically it is a set of rooms stitched together and you walk to whichever room you want trying to clear them all. That mode has three levels and each has a boss battle. Both modes give the same ending.

Still trekkin, I'm almost to the end of ff adventure. So far I'm really impressed with it, feels like a Zelda game and even does some things before Zelda did it (the hookshot and hammer from the SNES game are both essentially present in this game despite it coming out months before). I just need to finish off what I think will be two or three more bosses and I should be done.

I am also able to consistently reach world champ stage on side pocket, I just can't get the last trick shot. I could just look it up but I don't want to spoil the fun.

Finally, I was playing bases loaded, it seems like it will be another challenging slog game, as you have to beat some number of progressively more difficult teams in a row (I don't know how many yet) and one loss sends you back to the first game. Will probably work on it alongside q-bert once I finish ff adventure and ninja boy 2, which I am on the second world of so far.

I beat level 8 of Qix. It's not hard to do, but I've never sat down and done it before. I finished with a score of 200,000+ which is enough to top the high score list. I got a different ending animation than I did on my previous attempt, at around 100,000+ points. I looked into it, and there's apparently a "best" ending if you play to 500,000 points. I might try to get it to see if there are credits. The NES thread uses the high score table instead of a loop. Since level 9 looks a lot like level 1 but gives you a higher percentage to cover, I'm leaning toward deciding that it's not really a loop, and changing the requirement to topping the high score table, if nobody minds. There are some easyish tricks to getting a really high score, which I'll go ahead and add to the strategies thread.

I finished two today, FF Adventure and Side Pocket are both done. Adventure proved easy after I had to back-track at one point for keys. Side Pocket, I got to world champ stage and just kept doing it over and over until I figured out the last trick shot, then credits rolled. I'm moving on now to Ninja Boy 2 and whatever else I picked up and forgot about lately.
