Hi Guys, I finally got my AVS after some months of purchasing, as retrousb didn't ship the console to my country (Mexico) I had to use a different shipping address from a relatives living in U.S. I ordered my AVS console on September 23th and arrived on October to the shipping address, but I was able to travel to U.S and picking up just until 4 days ago, I really like the console, is awesome!, I have been reading about the usb port issue, what is exactly the issue? the usb port gets loose/broken because the solder points to the pcb are minimum? Do you think my AVS console have the same defect?

Out of curiosity, is there going to be an eventual non beta FW update?

I saw the question mark behind Final Fantasy 7 and Pokemon Yellow for the firmware updates, neither worked on 1.20. Final Fantasy 7 looked better than it did, but the sound was way off and it froze after the first battle. Pokemon did come up on the original firmware, but very glitchy. On 1.20 it does not come up at all.

I'm thinking of making a purchase for one but would like to know if this has been resolved before doing so.

I was very confused reading his post, and this clears it up lol. Now it makes sense.

The parts will arrive, at this point they are at the mercy of the production run and shipping times.

Do you really think RetroUSB would put all this time, effort and money into a console and fail to deliver on something they said they'd do?

Also, when emailing Retrousb support, have you tried a second email account? Spam filters block emails at times...

What parts were promised that are not coming in? The last update on facebook says waiting for manufacturing of the new NES connector.

I also want to point out that this thread is for help with using Scoreboard and updating the firmware, it is not a general "ask any question" thread.  You probably did not get a response here because no one saw it, becuase it has nothing to do with using Scoreboard.

Emails and messages are up to date. If you did not get a response then I did not get your message. Sorry.

Unless you were the person who sent an email yesterday about the pin connector,  in that case I got that one and responded.

Are you talking about the shimmering effect?   I have heard that if you set the AVS to the widest setting and then use your TV to force 4:3 mode, that should get rid of the shimmer. Or at least give you a nice 4:3 setting.
That definitely works. I just got used to the slightly wide "standard" image, which does not produce shimmer for me. The closest thing to 4:3 in the AVS menu gives off a rough shimmer effect to be sure.

Hey, I got my AVS in the mail recently, so I decided to update the firmware to the newest version but I can't get scoreboard.exe to work. It just crashes with an error every time I start it up. What can I do to get it to work?

Need way more info.

What version of windows? Where did you get scoreboard.exe? What is the error you're getting?

Since I posted yesterday, I somehow got the program to work just once. So I've got the firmware updated now, but I can't get it to work again. My version is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and I got the scoreboard.exe from this thread. The error that comes up isn't particularly helpful, but I'll post what there is. All it really says is Scoreboard.exe has stopped working, and the other typical stuff. It lists some files though.

Files that help describe the problem:
  C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\WERB09.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
  C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\WER16CD.tmp.appcompat.txt
  C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\WER1806.tmp.mdmp

Does the 1.12 and the beta 1.14, both linked in the original post, crash with the same error?

Not exactly. I've been testing it out some more today, and sometimes it shows the same error with the files listed, but it mostly just shows up saying the program has stopped working and that it had to close it.

EDIT: It does that for both 1.12 and the beta.

Hello im having issues updating my Avs to the latest firmware. I download the file from the Retro USB site and go into scoreboard and click the correct options to update it starts the process then sits at 1/16 reprogramming firmware and does not progress and the power light just flicks on and off. what is going on? I am now unable to play the console. I have tried both versions of the firmware. same issue.

How long did you wait? Restart your computer and try again. Or try updating it from another computer.

What operating system and version are you using?

Well, it seems like both 1.12 and the beta are working now. I still don't know what the problem was, but I'm glad that it is working.

So I baffled I followed the instructions and had no clue what I am doing wrong when I am trying to update my AVS to 1.20. I had unzipped files and done a few other things before, but for some reason, I cannot update. Is there a youtube video on how to update? I got the scoreboard app working, but no update hope my system is working properly. Thank you.

What exactly is the problem you are having?

At what point in the update processes are you having trouble?  There are only a few basic steps, download and open the Scoreboard program, connect your AVS to the computer and power it on, go to "update firmware" within the software.

Are you getting any errors that pop up?

What version operating system are you using?

I am using Windows 10. I follow all the instructions I have the scoreboard open on the AVS. I download the 1.20 AVS update and save as link. When I go to open it I am not allowed says I do not have permission.

When something is easy to do it is usually hard to me and when something is hard to do it is easy to me. The scoreboard works on my AVS it is 1.0 and I can upload scores.
