Ok, by now you've no doubt seen my lot on ebay, the one with the crazy number of items for sale.

Initially, I said in the auction that I would only ship inside the US, but I'm getting lots of interest from folks up north.

That said, I realize that PayPal has a $2,000 protection for confirmed addresses, and I also heard that PayPal is starting to confirm international addresses as well -- is it a big risk (to me) to ship to Canada? If so, what are some of the risks? I really don't want to alienate my would-be buyers but I felt that with a lot of this size there had to be a lot of risks shipping across borders -- anyone have any advice on this one?

I've decided that I will not ship this across any oceans, as that would likely end up ruining a lot of games because of the weight and handing of the packages, but I don't see this as being a problem to Canada.

Oddly enough, I seem to have more problems getting stuff from within Canada, than from the US. Our postal service sucks balls... It's expensive and slow. Maybe if you decide to sell to a Canadian, break your lot up into 3 lots of $2000 (or less) and charge the buyer accordingly if thats possible so that each lot is protected.

That being said, I haven't run into any issues getting a package from the US. If you send via UPS or Purolator or whatever you guys have down there, you might be better off...

Canada post does some weird things some days! I came home once, and instead of finding a delivery slip in the mail box, they left the package on my door step. Yep, they left a brand new xbox360 on my door step... Brilliant!

That's an interesting idea about breaking it up into multiple's of $2,000. I'll have to look into that to see if it's possible.
Thanks!

I say your best bet is to just send it to me free of charge and in return you get my eternal gratitude and the Karma Gods will smile upon you

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Dain, I don't know if you already know this or not, but Paypal started confirming Canadian addresses a long time ago so they should be 99% done by now. My address was confirmed two or three years ago. As for real protection, I would strongly advise using a courier rather than USPS & Canada Post if you send anything of real value to Canada. Fedex, UPS, Purolator, etc will provide good coverage (they'll be more expensive of course, but that will be the buyer's problem, not yours) whereas if Canada Post loses/misplaces your stuff, you're probably going to be SOL or have a long, long recovery/appeal process ahead of you.

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

If I were you I'd only ship domestically but that's just me. If you want to ship internationally, I'd only do it if A) the address was confirmed, and B) you know the buyer and know that he's credible. I wouldn't ship to a random person in Canada for an item like this even if his address was confirmed.

This also opens up the possibility that you ship into Europe. As long as you know the buyer and his/her address is confirmed, and they're willing to pay for insured/tracked shipping.

Of course there's going to be risks no matter WHERE you ship it, but the liklihood of a complication increases drastically when shipping internationally.

Or hopefully I will just win it and I'll drive down to meet up with ya. That would me my preference.
