Ratings key:
10 - One of your very favorite artists of all time.
9 - Killer fucking band.  Or artist.
8 - Great sound, great songs, great albums.
7 - Very good, but not quite great.
6 - Pretty good.  More than a few songs you like.  You'd entertain the thought of seeing them live if they were in the area.  Or still alive.
5 - They're okay, but maybe not something you'll go out of your way to listen to.
4 - Meh.  There may be a song or two, or an album that you dig, but you'd rather listen to other stuff.
3 - Not very good.  You will more likely than not turn the station if they come on the radio.
2 - Not your cup of tea at all.  Some people like this, but you are not one of them.
1 - Horrible in every way.
0 - In the running for worst artist/musician of all time.  You would rather take a cheese grater to your face than listen to this.

Current Standings:
6.09 - Weezer
5.00 - Lady Gaga
4.33 - Linkin Park
TBD - Prince

Prince wishes he was half as funky as Morris Day and the Time on their worst day.

Prince is WAY overrated. The only good song you posted is 1999. You forgot Batdance.

I give him a 6. Talented dude for sure, liked some jams, might've seen him if he were around still, might not.

You guys are some haters. Solid 8, and Erotic City is one of the best songs ever.

Also, you never would have been able to find any of his stuff on YouTube when he was alive.

I contend that Purple Rain is the best soundtrack album of all time.

Easy 8, the guy is an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist, very underrated guitar player and excellent song writer.

I'm not really a "fan" but I know where to give credit when it's due.

If Weezer, Linken Park or Lady Gaga score higher this website suffers from musical retardation.

He isn't my favorite ever, so doesn't get a "10", but I'll give him a "9", because he is one of the most, if not THE most, talented musicians of our time.

I beg the differ, Prince was one of those artist who didn’t need death to be famous. His stuff was always available on YouTube.

no, he's referencing that Prince actively had his stuff taken down off of YT.

^^^That.   You would be lucky to have something by Prince up for 5 minutes before it got pulled.

yup. I remember searching for replays of his scorching performance of "Woman Scorned" from SNL and the infamous "Purple Rain" in the rain from the Super Bowl, w/ no luck back then.

The only thing I really ever appreciated was his guitar playing during the George Harrison tribute version of "Guitar slowly weeps"... he was showing off more than anything, but he proved (to me, at least) that he can actually play guitar.

I clicked on literally all of the videos in the OP and it was the only one I recognized in the slightest. Not my style of music, so I'd never seek it out. Odds are I might have heard one or two on the radio at a store once but beyond that I've not listened to any of his songs. Even the Doves Cry song all I know is literally that one line.

If you listened to the radio growing up there had to have been other songs you have heard fron Prince. Maybe Canadian radio is different lol

I didn't listen to the radio growing up, and even had I, I'm still not "familiar with" any of his music as I say - I couldn't recount any of them, hell I didn't even know the Doves song was him. Prince is and always has been outside of my radar.

I remember a mom once posted a small (30 seconds if that) clip of her kids running around her kitchen to "Let's Go Crazy," and you could barely hear the song itself, and that got a takedown.

The mom won in court, though.

Another great performer and artist but I just don't dig his music all that much. I'll still give him a good vote though.

I was wondering when someone was gonna mention that as it's something I've noticed.
