No the correct answer is that it rolls over.  I just confirmed this.  So not sure how you want to handle that.

Honor system?, or anyone that rolls it gets first place points.

I'm not sure how many are going to be able to do that anyway.  If all 3 top scores do, i'll be super impressed.

Cool yea I just looked it up and it doesn't max out. If more then two of us get 999,999 then we are just going to see who get's it first. Who ever gets it earliest get the top score.

Is that official?  Normally how you guys handle this, If a score loops it's, done as soon as it's maxed?

I don't call shots. It just seems like the better thing to do. We have to find out how far we can go first but We'll let bimmy, guillavoie and mog make the rules.

We're trying to tell the final input about this, but I want say that your contribution is very well appreciated too Cristian.
All players can have their words on rules, that's important for the contest.

No, it does, if you have the insanity required to push through.  Takes FOREVER.  Really trying to muster the courage for this one...

Over at Atari Age, scores are typically capped when they roll.  So the highest score, regardless of how long you play, is at the roll.  Then, generally, anyone that does will receive the same points as everyone else in that bracket.  Makes it easier to stop at the rolling factor instead of letting people keep going.  That would just get nuts with certain games.

I personally thought that this would be a more fair option for all players. We're playing a weekly contest, not a who's best on Monday contest.

It works well. I remember one variety pack of four games (two weeks of playing) they capped at least one of the games at the roll. Everyone who got the roll was in first place, and all got the same points.

I don't care either way, it's not like I'm in the running for the whole thing anyway, so I'll let you guys decide. I needed some motiviation to get good at this game, as much as I like 1943, this one is best enjoyed with fermented beverage.

The first picture is at the beginning of that stage to show you where I was. I clicked outside of the window so Nestopia would pause so I could take the picture.
The second picture shows my final score. I was at the end of the stage... Grrrrr.

Seems like you'll be able to loop the score before you beat the game.

Welp, that's all from me. Never again will I confuse 1942 with 1943. Now I can add another game to the list of shit I will never EVER play again!!

I kind of like this idea also. This one is very tricky.

So, can you actually restart this game and continue with the points you had when you beat the game? I figured I might as well finish since I was close. There's a (really bad) ending and it returns to the title screen. I closed the window without restarting a game to check and see if the points reset or not. The title screen then shows the high score and the Player 1 score (rolled), so perhaps you could just go by who has the most points after beating the game?

As far as I know it's impossible to continue with the same points after dying. I have yet to pop it in. The last time I beat it a few years ago I swore I'd never play it again. When you get near the end and the "city" appears it's just dreadful.

That doesn't sound like a very fun high score contest, "Yay we all got a tie this week, everyone wins!"

there should be a rule that you have to turn the volume to the max when playing

Okay, I think I got it all sorted out. I'll wait for Bimmy's input about it, and we'll reveal what came out about rolling the score in 1942. You'll see that it's quite simple.

Ok, here's what guillavoie and I came up with for the scores. We will allow the looping of the score and there is a way to prove the score was rolled legitmately if you take your picture after you lose your life. When you start a stage and when you lose a life, the current stage and number of lives left are visible.

If a player rolls the score, it will be easy to verify that it was rolled based on the stage where someone dies and the number of lives left. (Ex. score - 016,780, 10 stages left (meaning the player is on stage 22 or 23, roughly), 19 lives left. At this point in the game, it is obvious the player's score is actually 1,016,780 because of how many lives they have left.

So, in short, anyone who loops the score must take their picture after they lose their life and it must display the stage where they died and the number of lives left.

Also, if there's no way of seeing the number of lives left after beating the final boss, I would suggest that anyone who gets to the final stage in one life should take their picture at the beginning of the final stage to show their score at that point, as well as the number of lives remaining.

If anyone has any questions about all of this, feel free to post them here or send a PM to myself or guillavoie.

Doesn't happen like that, though.  It's not easy to roll most 2600 games.  Others, like Journey Escape, are easier to roll, but you have to be pretty insane to sit through it that long.  It's actually probably the most popular HSC on the internet, and not everyone wins, no.  The scoring system is quite even throughout, but the winners are always varied.  So, for example:

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/185463-high-score-club-...

You can see no one rolled that time.  Whereas here:

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/180725-high-score-club-...

Only one game was rolled.  Megamania had three total, but if you read the scoring for this particular week, its scores are left at base value because it was an easier game to do it.  Doesn't happen often anyway and depends on the game.
