In my short time with the game, it doesn't seem possible to throw the boot further than 30ft.

I've also gotten scores above 1,000 on Sack race

Highest I got on sack race was 1160 at today morning practices.
You start with 2000 points and lose 5 points every tenth of a second. I believe it is possible to beat it within 20 seconds to get a 1200 score from it, though, by exploiting diagonal movement.

well with the glitch out in the open now for no reason I guess I'll just post my score and be done with this week then.
Score: 17120

I could probably do better at sack race and overboard givin the time remaining but to be honest, i'm just not enjoying the contests very much this year. don't get me wrong, i'm having a blast entertaining you sick fucks with kickle and all that, but the actual competing is very one sided compared to last year.

At least you'll beat me this week. I'm done with this game.

On to Bad Street Brawler (which I'm never ever in the mood to play).

I know that the last time this was played, the highest score was 18,410 or something like that.
I'm curious to know where and when? The contest schedule says this is the first time this game has been played in the weekly contests. The only other time I see it referenced was in an old tournament thread. The tournament I'm referencing is the one where Tom Votava beat some poor bastard to death with his own arm scored over 17,000 points in Snoopy for the win.

http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?StartRow=76&...
Dev(2) got 18,140 here. I mistyped a number.
Tom's was on the 1st week and was 17,940.

Edit: From this morning observations, diagonal jumps at the sack event seem to carry extra x axis momentum. I will figure how much more and how it is affected by the button input tonight and post my findings here.
If this is the case and you can manipulate it, beating the sack event in less than 20 seconds will be possible.
Yeah well, Dev(2) is a reputed cheater so...

Of that I wasn't aware of. I never actually interacted with him nor followed his shenanigans at the forums.
Still, I credit the sub 18K Tom score for him having to focus on another two games that week. I am fairly sure if he could focus solely on this, he would break 18.4K points easily.
So far, this game is mostly a matter of repetition. Same inputs are producing the same results all the time so it is quite easy to be consistent at the sack race and the other events.
The only with a hint of a random factor is overboard.

I absolutely love that Snoopy got the upper hand on Kickle. Everybody has a humping sensei after all, even Kickle.

The code on this thing is messy. REALLY messy.
But I will be able to determine whether it is possible to launch the boot over 30 in the next hour or two.

I've spent my professional career (and plenty of time on my own) tearing IT systems of all types apart in order to understand how they work. But for whatever reason, I get much less joy from doing that with video games. I think it's because we are competing by playing the game. Or perhaps it's that I've mostly played games for recreation. Either way, breaking the games I'm competing in takes away some of the innocence of simply playing the game for me. I am probably alone in this but wanted to share my thoughts   Best of luck on your disassembly and analysis, Bea!

I work IT all day, and back on my heyday at college, I LOVED assembly.
Half of my fun from playing a game comes from breaking it and understanding how it works.

But you guys don't have to worry much. I will be retiring after this season and only taking honorary scores here and there from then on.
My method of approaching the games we are competing at is skewing the results and making the competition less fun from what I noticed. I am too deep on this to give up it now, but after the tournaments, I am done.

Also, it seems to be possible to throw the boot to 45 distance to score 1500 points from what I have seen on the code.
Couldn't figure out how to achieve that yet.

I find it baffling that people are able to do the pogo and river jump successfully 3 straight times

Jimtendo showed me how to do the river jump every time and Scrotbot showed me how to do the pile of pizza and pogo.  It's fairly easy once you do it 100 fucking times 🤣

Well then fuck this. I didn't take a pic of my 10,500 score, I can't seem to do it again, but it's gonna take 16,000 or 17,000 to place anyways, so I'm moving on toe BSB

It gives me insight of the game inner workings that would take other people weeks or months to find out through sheer gameplay.
That gives me a distinct advantage in games like this, Klax and others we have played this year.
That makes reaching top 3 more difficult for other people and could be killing some of the motivation to compete.
Since I draw at least half of my fun from doing reverse engineer and debugging code and therefore wouldn't stop doing it, as I take part on this to have fun, I will just remove myself from the equation next year and follow the contest on the sidelines.
