GnG is on my bucket game list for sure.

Id be happy just to beat it tho. My buddy started playing it and i hear the controls are tough to get used too, and the game itself is pretty cheap and glitchy. But i may try it soon after i get some more easy games outta the way and i want another challenge like battletoads

Nostalgicmachine - thanks man and glad you followed my thread on this. Once you get your cart make sure to show us your progress. Good Luck dude!

Not gonna lie, I probably wouldn't have even contemplated giving this game another go if it weren't for this thread, so thank YOU!

I know it's a little late (I was in Japan) but congrats on your monumental feat! Beating games legit is the only way to go. The only question left is, what's next?

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

How about the guys who beat the NES version of Battletoads try their luck on the AmigaCD32 port?

Thanks man!

whats next???, well i was on a battletoads kick so i went and beat battletoads on the genesis, then battletoads and double dragon on NES (that was pretty tough too.) both of those legit no cheats codes etc. And then gave the game gear battletoads a try, its pretty weak tho and bad controls make for a bad exerience on that thing lol. I made it to the ice level and tried something else.

GnG is on the "to do" list. I want to really see what they hype is all about on that one, and see how it compares to the Toads in difficulty.

Congrats basil on the trip to Japan! that was probably pretty awesome! I would like to snag a copy of the famicom battletoads and go ahead and beat it too, but its all expensive on ebay so i might wait for a good deal on that one.

I have the game down now tho, and about a week later after beating all13 levels. I went to test a NES system i was going to sell, and the closest game in reach was battletoads to test it with. So i tested the system, it worked, and then before i knew it, found myself playing it again lol. I went through the whole game ALL levels and made it to the dark queen. I beat the snake level without even losing a life, and then beat the inferno with only dying once. I was doing alot of experimenting on the other levels tho, with what i could, and (could not) get away with. So was burning through a lot of lives in the process on other levels, but learned a few more tips, which i plan to add to this walkthrough sometime lol.

Whats next in the toads department.............................beat the game all levels .....legit ......with no continues.

I nearly beat Battletoads when I was 10 years old, I could always get to the very last level (I did use warps). About 5 years ago I decided to actually put this toad to rest and beat the game, all levels, no continues, no warps. It's not nearly as hard as people make it out to be.

That is quite true! and once you put together a "game plan" Sorta a "im gonna do this here, and do this there routine"
The game gets easier and you lose less and less lives.

I tried again tonight and beat the whole game again. This time all 13 levels, no extra lives codes, and NO CONTINUES Used! Woo Hoo! First time i did that

And to wrap this thread up .........what better way to celebrate then to acquire myself a trophy

I even got the wifes approval to splurge and get this media press book from an awesome member of NA, My wife had to deal with me through this whole experience lol, she said i deserved it hahaha ha!

Thanks again out there for the book! you know who you are!

This thread is beyond inspiring. I still need to grab a cart; all the local stores are charging upwards of $25, boxed or bare!

I can't see spending more than $20 on this game; that seems like the most reasonable price tag. I'd go $30+ with the box (manual or not), however.

I have a cart only copy waiting at my local Play N Trade. I'm snagging it this weekend along with a few other goodies.

You are a true Battletoads Master. This game gives me a lot of frustration, I barely make it past the snake pit. Congrats!

Me!

Probably the hardest game I've beaten to date. I recently beat another tough game Bump n Jump but it still wasn't as hard as Battletoads.

Good times!

I had a meltdown during that week I was having an incredibly good run and then I got the glitch at the end of the stage before Clinger Winger.......

My mind/body didn't know how to react so I just pulled the game out of the console and and looked at it.

I finished it sometime during 2015. It was definitely one of my biggest gaming accomplishments up to that point in time. It's funny to think about it too, because now even years later I can rip through the game without really thinking about it, and that's without being well-practiced.
