There should be no intentional point racking for this contest. If you have to kill a couple extra enemies to regain some health, that's fine with me. Just don't stand there for 10 minutes killing enemies. If you kill several enemies and they don't drop any health, then keep on moving.
New high score for me:
Score upon 1st death 739,400 (Looped game twice, lost against the Joker on my third run through it)

Okay, I said I would give this my all, and boy did I! I spent nearly 8 hours playing this game today, and this was almost entirely on the scoring I achieved below. Beat it 6 times in a row without dying, failed on my 7th run while battling the Joker (I know if only I had an entra bar or two of health I could've won it again, but Firebug played cheap and I couldn't get that jerk off of me til he drained me of several bars, leaving me to fight the Joker with less health than I'd prefer, which cost me the game). Found that if I ate something during brief intermissions in the game, such as a bowl of ice cream and Doritos, that it helped calm my nerves, also each time I beat it I washed my hands so that the controller wouldn't slip during crucial times, I needed my hands sweat-free as possible. I was aiming for 2 million at least, fell a little short, ugh, and I don't think I have it in me to attempt a long ass game of this again like this, I am totally drained, at least for today, but still I think I'm going to let my score stand as is, this'll give you all something to shoot for, and I'm sure having seen some of you blow right by any of my scores in the past you can do it for this one too. Enjoy.
Score upon 1st death 1,823,600
Oh, I'm sure the scores will be in, all the big scores will just suddenly pop in at the very last hour, that's the way it usually is. If anyone else is playing they are either still trying to top my score, or have aleady have and are just holding out so as to not motivate someone else to top their score. I'd like to see some more scores show up before then though, makes the contest more exciting, as is makes you wonder, is anyone even playing this at all, though I'm sure they are, but with the topic just sitting still for days, it makes it kind of interactively boring, like those that have posted are just playing against themselves.
I have a little bit of difficult playing any of these games compared to playing on a real NES controller, the d-pad on my pc controller is a tad wobbly so sometimes I end up over moving a character or turning around and moving while I was either pressing up or down and just very slightly happened to hit it diagonally, suddenly run off a ledge or into a trap or enemy, take some hits that shouldn't have happened. Another are all of the other buttons, gotta be very careful particularly with the Mode button because this changes use from d-pad to analog sticks meaning if I accidently press this I'll suddenly not be able to move, and with it being kind of close to the Back button which I have mapped for the NES Select button, it could get risky sometimes. Sure I could map Select to another button but it wouldn't feel natural and would take some getting used to. But I'm surprised that I have been able to play as well as I have, particularly the platformers such as Batman and Super C (didn't do quite as well with Nightmare on Elm Street, overwalked ledges sometimes, probably could've done better with Robocop 2 also), because they require such precision, but I'd do much better on an NES.
Funny is last night I spent a couple hours looking through a ton of NES game lots for sale on Ebay, seen a lot of very good auction deals, was thinking I could keep the games that I like, resell the rest such as sports titles and get some of the money back that I spent, but then could end up not being able to sell them and have all these games just sitting around for ages, and also if I start that up again I could end up right back where I was before, spending too much money on a collection that I'd always worry about losing again (still traumatized from having to sell my old collection), as is I'm selling most of my things so as to earn some savings money, not respend it right away, but it was tempting.
I hope we have another great platformer after this one, these are the games that I enjoy most of all.

The fourth post down on the Leaderboard Thread has a list of upcoming games, but there are no dates for the games. One of the games on the list will be chosen randomly each Sunday night. Here's the thread.

Starting to get better at this game. I may give this another try tonight to see if I can do better.
