There should be no intentional point racking for this contest. If you have to kill a couple extra enemies to regain some health, that's fine with me. Just don't stand there for 10 minutes killing enemies. If you kill several enemies and they don't drop any health, then keep on moving.

It's fine if we allow it, but there has to be some sort of specified limit. If you see acomicbookguys scores above, he got almost double the score when going for health vs not.

How about something like, you can stop to kill enemies for health only once per stage and you can not kill more then 10 enemies during that time.

That sounds fair to me.  Health racking can only be done once per stage and you cannot kill more than 10 enemies during that time.  Does this sound good to everyone else?

Sounds good to me.

Sounds perfect to me as well.

We should notify this rule in the OP.

I was really hoping I had you beat, did a lot of damage to Joker, should've had him beaten, but my nerves were shot to hell, I was getting too anxious, caused me to start getting hit several times within a few seconds, cost me that game. I know if I had beat him I could have at least made it mostly through a fourth game, especially if my score would have exceeded yours, I would've been able to relax a little. But I know I have to keep trying because too many gamers I think are going to be real good at this one, I'm sure there's going to be several scores well over a million points, I think the competition for this is going to be rough, and unlike past games this year, because this is a favorite of mine I going to be giving it my all.

You gotta be kidding me. Well over a million. Fuck this business trip I'm headed home. If I didn't have to be out of town I'd be playing the hell out of this. I didn't think people were all that serious about this one but I think it's just the beginning of the week and people post more towards the end. This is my first real entry to these so I guess I just have to learn the ropes. I'm with you that this game is one of my all time favorite NES titles. I beat this game for the first time when I was 9 and it really stuck to me. I'm going to give it my all this weekend for sure. I got nothing to do all day Saturday so expect a good 8 or 9 loops lol. Good luck Megan!

Yeah, there's at least two people that consistently rank at or near the top all the time in the scoreboard, and at least one of them will probably do it again, but I'm going to try real hard this week to knock their scores down a little bit. I'll be aiming for the top spot on this one, not sure if I can pull it off, but will try.

Okay, I said I would give this my all, and boy did I! I spent nearly 8 hours playing this game today, and this was almost entirely on the scoring I achieved below. Beat it 6 times in a row without dying, failed on my 7th run while battling the Joker (I know if only I had an entra bar or two of health I could've won it again, but Firebug played cheap and I couldn't get that jerk off of me til he drained me of several bars, leaving me to fight the Joker with less health than I'd prefer, which cost me the game). Found that if I ate something during brief intermissions in the game, such as a bowl of ice cream and Doritos, that it helped calm my nerves, also each time I beat it I washed my hands so that the controller wouldn't slip during crucial times, I needed my hands sweat-free as possible. I was aiming for 2 million at least, fell a little short, ugh, and I don't think I have it in me to attempt a long ass game of this again like this, I am totally drained, at least for today, but still I think I'm going to let my score stand as is, this'll give you all something to shoot for, and I'm sure having seen some of you blow right by any of my scores in the past you can do it for this one too. Enjoy.

Score upon 1st death 1,823,600

There's no movement here. I was hoping to get an idea of what I'm up against. Does everyone usually snipe there scores lol. I guess it's a good idea as it can motivate someone to do better.

P.S. Very nice High Score Miss Claw. I've been practicing on my phone but the controls are way different from playing on my NES.

Its pretty much just us three. I haven't had time to play much this week but I'm free Friday. I think its less competitive because of camp out.

Oh, I'm sure the scores will be in, all the big scores will just suddenly pop in at the very last hour, that's the way it usually is. If anyone else is playing they are either still trying to top my score, or have aleady have and are just holding out so as to not motivate someone else to top their score. I'd like to see some more scores show up before then though, makes the contest more exciting, as is makes you wonder, is anyone even playing this at all, though I'm sure they are, but with the topic just sitting still for days, it makes it kind of interactively boring, like those that have posted are just playing against themselves.

I have a little bit of difficult playing any of these games compared to playing on a real NES controller, the d-pad on my pc controller is a tad wobbly so sometimes I end up over moving a character or turning around and moving while I was either pressing up or down and just very slightly happened to hit it diagonally, suddenly run off a ledge or into a trap or enemy, take some hits that shouldn't have happened. Another are all of the other buttons, gotta be very careful particularly with the Mode button because this changes use from d-pad to analog sticks meaning if I accidently press this I'll suddenly not be able to move, and with it being kind of close to the Back button which I have mapped for the NES Select button, it could get risky sometimes. Sure I could map Select to another button but it wouldn't feel natural and would take some getting used to. But I'm surprised that I have been able to play as well as I have, particularly the platformers such as Batman and Super C (didn't do quite as well with Nightmare on Elm Street, overwalked ledges sometimes, probably could've done better with Robocop 2 also), because they require such precision, but I'd do much better on an NES.

Funny is last night I spent a couple hours looking through a ton of NES game lots for sale on Ebay, seen a lot of very good auction deals, was thinking I could keep the games that I like, resell the rest such as sports titles and get some of the money back that I spent, but then could end up not being able to sell them and have all these games just sitting around for ages, and also if I start that up again I could end up right back where I was before, spending too much money on a collection that I'd always worry about losing again (still traumatized from having to sell my old collection), as is I'm selling most of my things so as to earn some savings money, not respend it right away, but it was tempting.

I hope we have another great platformer after this one, these are the games that I enjoy most of all.

I think during every contest we should name next weeks game so people who don't have it can hit the BST and get a copy. Maybe announce next weeks game on a Wednesday or a Thursday so anybody that buys it will get it on Monday. Just a thought.

In all honesty, I don't see myself topping Megan's score right now. I mean, that's a lot of hours to spent on a game.

I'm not giving up, but I see the time it takes to beat your score  as a big obstacle. I'm not a fan of looping 10 times a game without any increase in difficulty.

I was a little disappointed also that there was no increase in difficulty after looping game. Even so, it was difficult keeping with it and not messing up really bad all those rounds, nearly lost it during my 4th time when the Duel Container boss knocked me down to 1 hit point. All those runs through game like that wears you down physically and mentally, takes a lot of concentration, even if the difficulty wasn't increased each time. And crazy me am actually thinking about doing it again on my next day off from work.

This is my whole NES experience as a kid. I never really liked puzzle games too much(What 6 year old did ) and also didn't like RPG titles. There was to much thinking involved so I settled for platformers. Mario, Mega Man, Contra, Adventure Island, Buck O'Hare and Batman were some of the few games my parents actually bought me.

Okay so like I mentioned before I have been playing Batman over and over and over on my phone and I got near Miss Claw's score twice. I think once I get home I should be ready to give this a go. The only problem I have with this game is the very last 5 minutes of the game. The climb to the Joker and the Joker himself. I finally got his routine and it isn't easy to perfect. I'll eventually get it though and I'll post my score Saturday evening.

I don't like the fact that the game loops without any changes but I also like that the game loops without any changes. I think the music really makes me forget that I have been playing for 5 or 6 hours straight. Music in this game is effin awesome.

Wow, finishing Batman on one life six times in a row, let alone once? Wow.. I'm shocked. I don't think I've been able to do the whole game without dying (maybe close, but no cigar). I doubt I'd have the nerves to do it six times either.

You can usually count on MrMiniMog, guillavoie, NintendoTwizer, and myself submitting scores every week.  Most of the time, we submit later in the week.  I haven't had much time for this game this week because my grandmother passed away last Saturday   It's been a rough week.  I'll get a score in by Sunday night, though.
