Ive gotten to the point where there is a lot going on when you play, so until I lay artwork I need some stuff labeled on the playfield. I just made a Rupee finder mode yesterday and it works great. This mode functions pretty much the entire game until the last mode. There are 6 shots, if a shot is hit it lights the rupee on that shot. If you cash in all 6 shots you get a bigger reward but here's the catch; the flipper buttons rotate the lights. This added layer of confusion is great because not only is it a distraction from the main modes but it changes how you play them. I need to design one more distraction mode to fill in some inserts on the right side of the picture, but everything else is accounted for. In the picture below youll see 10 items that you can collect. The items on the left side are earned in order, in game modes and are missable. The items on the right side can be earned in any order, and are earned by completion goals(pops hit, ramps hit etc)

I've made a bottle mode with these 4 inserts! It's a distraction mode. I have a counter looking for switch hits which eventually fill the bottles. Hitting the outhole cashes in the bottles you filled and resets. Point values stack and change for each bottle starting with red bottles, then blue, then green and white for the potions and faeries. Cashing in a full green set will net points AND a ball save. Cashing in 4 faeries will give you one of the extra balls.

I made a simple skill shot yesterday. Nothing too fancy, I have 3 inserts in the plunger lane that will crawl and if you plunge at the right time you will get its reward. One rewards minor points, one extends your ball save from 10 seconds to 25 and one gives you 3 free hits towards an extraball (24 hits needed total for that one). This morning I fixed a bug where my game would crash if you DIDNT get a high score which is kind of funny to me. I have some balancing issues with scoring on my new bottle mode but that will take some tweaking. Next up is to sort a few minor issues before moving on. I learned that the carousel I need to make for my shop mode can also be used in the attract mode to flip through the different slides, even though it wasnt intended for that. Once the carousel is built for the shop, I have the Ganon mode left. Then its tons and tons of tweaking to get the game balanced. The Ganon mode will be a real logic challenge for me. Im going to design 3 different versions(at first) of the mode in varying difficulties. Depending on your player variables, items earned etc, the mode will start easier or harder based on how you did up until that point. After that Ill try to get it so more than 1 player can play at a time, then Ill add wizard mode stuff. and the game is 'done' at that point(minus art). My artist went ahead and asked for known assets so she can start sketching some stuff up.

95% done, 95% to go!

Im making my shop mode! Late in the game I will allow the player a chance to buy missed items or even an extraball in the shop before facing Ganon. Item completion will dictate which difficulty of the final boss you get. You will spend your score to buy these items in the shop!

Finishing up the final mode, getting some logic straight, then ill be adding a ton of light shows and videos for the mode. This mode I wont be sharing any videos of, I want the player to see it the hard way. With this mode finished I have put a cap on this machines code and can go back and get lots of play testing and refinement. The game is technically finished at this point. When I have some art sketches ready Ill be sure to share them. Updates will likely be slower now since they will be more boring updates but I will get a video of game play posted sometime soon.

I'm updating my UI so the player can quickly figure out the items you can get during certain modes. This will also help anyone watching figure out where the player is without hovering to see the playfield. I have a lot more to add to this. My artist is designing a filigree border to really jazz it up

Huge leap in multiplayer functionality. This was my last major goal before the show we are taking it to in July. Still tons of refinement to be done but not I can bug hunt 4x time faster.  Video below is just some updates to the bonus mode.

I had some friends over last night and we broke the hell out of my game. The goal was to find a bunch of new bugs and we did. But here is about 3 hours of gameplay to sift through.

Im having issues posting it here, so just copy and paste the link and remove the spaces i added.

Moving my build thread to pinside now that Ive finally got a stable machine. Ill continue to post here once the game has full art and can be deemed 'finished!"

Its been a while since my last update. I was able to take my game to SFGE in Atlanta which is a pinball/gaming convention. It got a little over 300 plays over the 3 days it was there and I got some excellent feedback on it. Ive tweaked some code and Ive replaced the GI with something a bit brighter! Still waiting on art but Im thinking about working on another theme with a unique table design in the mean time....

In doing a bunch of alignment for my artist so I can give them this file and they can put the art where its needed. If you design your own playfield you likely already have a CAD version of it so you can skip this step entirely. A while back we had a photographer come out and take some really good pics of the playfield as flat as possible and I have been doing the vector work. Im on my 3rd revision as I get closer and closer to all inserts being exactly where they should.
