Mine came with the USB port bolted down with screws. I preordered but because I bundled several "launch series" NES games with my AVS, it didn't ship at launch. So my AVS got the quick fix for the USB port. New AVS will use through hole parts and have a fixed cartridge port. I hope you didn't overpay scalper pricing for the AVS.

I think I read that the newer revision would use through-hole parts from lurking here. I did have to pay uh... a bit of a premium for mine, (and this was probably me just being naïve) but I didn't see him as a scalper and just some dude selling something at what I perceived was the going price at the time. I dunno, I just didn't think these would be things that people bought up to sit on and sell later. I still don't feel like I made the wrong move though, since I've been loving mine since March and the estimated ship date has been pushed back like... almost four months since then?

Brian made a popular product. Small factories can't keep up with the orders...

Ordered an NT mini, canceled it and ordered an AVS. Hopefully it arrives by the end of the summer.

It's getting close to the 1 year mark and I still feel it's the best videogame purchase I have made in that time (and I've bought a LOT of things). You are going to love it!

@Somery: put some of that money you saved on the AVS towards some of the "launch" homebrews!

I collect your games too. Scramble beats anything currently available in the RetroUSB AVS page, though Solaris is a pretty damn good SHMUP in it's own right...

(I also finally got the original Atari 2600 version ordered on the AA store, to complement your NES port)

Is there an update on when the AVS will be available? Site still shows summer but I'm getting antsy.

Awesome, I noticed the preorder price was removed which made me wonder. I'm excited man, I haven't gotten to experience the mighty AVS yet.

Hope they provide the boat tracking. I found it exciting following it through ports of call on the first shipment.

Aaaaaaalllll Aaaaaboooooooarrrrd!

Reposted from RetroUSB's facebook:
AVS update: track it! Based on the history of the ship, it is going to make a few stops in Taiwan before heading across the ocean. It also hits Long Beach first so that adds a few days. Would guess that puts arrival in Oakland around Sept 1-3. A day to unload and couple days to ship to the local manufacturers offices puts it at Sept 6-11. A day for me to pick up then shipping starts the next day, so Sept 8-13? They will ship by roughly order date and probably take at least 3 days to get everything out. I should start stockpiling USPS boxes now so they don't screw that up again... https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo...

At least I am not the only one that finds it interesting to track shipping routes.

It is super interesting!  Unfortunately the tracking (AIS) is using ground based stations so it will go away when the ship gets into the ocean.  At least we will get to see it go up the Calif coast.  I think the ocean section is pretty much a straight line anyways, they don't care about trying to find calm waters like cruise ships.  http://e-commerce.yangming.com/im...

Also really cool to zoom out and see features like the Yangtze River drawn using boats.

I really like seeing all the many boats and their routes. It's easy to forget that boats like this are still a valid method of transportation of goods.

http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/a... hit the route forecast button and you can see the route it will take across the ocean. Zoom way out, pick a point along the green line, then zoom back in and you can see other ships along the same route. They only have position caus its from satellite but its amazing to see how much is out there all the time.

Thanks for sharing with us. This is good, indeed.

I purchased framemeister and modding a SNES jr. to keep me busy until the AVS gets to us from mother base.

My next project will be one of two things: stuffing the RetroUSB wireless controller guts in a stick NES controller shell (it WILL fit) or fitting the Ms Pacman plug and play in a cigar box, with a joystick plus bonus steering wheel for Pole Position.
