I might end up trying to do a 3 loop complete run in the near future, don't have enough time to do it for this contest though. I'd like to say I beat it on the hardest difficulty. It definitely becomes a test of your patience trying to beat multiple loops since each one is about 40 minutes long.

We just had a baby so time is at a minimum this week but I am determined to at least submit something every week. I had never played this game until about 10 minutes ago and my score shows it.

Yeah, definitely a nice challenge to do, and giving rdrunner description of stage 7 bosses on 3rd loop, there might be a make it or break it part very near the end of the game. Imagine playing 110 minutes and fail because of that part, it then takes balls to grab that controller back and redo it in the hope to beat that part.

Yeah.  I went through all of that with Gradius III arcade.  It takes like 25-30 minutes to get to the cube stage, and that's with playing perfectly.  It's extremely easy to lose all your lives on that level and have nothing to show.

Bayou Billy is an absolute joke compared to that game.  It took me 2 years of playing, and a solid 4 months of playing seriously almost every single day in order to beat it.  Bayou Billy loop 3 is like a sesame street game compared to Gradius III arcade.

I could have done better and made the leader board this week, but family duties came first. I didn't play again after submitting my last score. Looks like I almost held on and made it anyways! Great pick for a contest, I enjoyed it.
