This game seems very random with the unavoidable deaths. Like stage hazards can randomly appear right in front of your character.

Good thing you can pause the game and  get your bearings😜

Haha nice. This is one of the games that I've always wanted an arcade cab of. Love the game, especially with a friend.
 

I wonder if this game should have been ported to the Genesis instead to make the graphics closer to the arcade.

On the other hand, it's the kind of simple gameplay style that doesn't really need the best graphics. The stripped down NES port works. The main thing that is missing in terms of gameplay seems to be the four player aspect which would be cool.

Mind you, I've never played the  original arcade version and haven't even played the NES version until this contest.

Could've easily shaved off a few mil by suiciding a few times at the end.  
 

I was to bored to do that. Maybe this weekend.
Also, considering the rules, I could only drop 1 of my lives. I had two blue dots and we have to stop playing when we have zero dots left.
So eh, I am terrible at video games anyway.

 

What was your score before the end of game bonuses? Claybird beat the game with around 1,500,000 last time this was played, which amazes me.
 

It was 1,641,845.
I didn't give much thought to try to keep score too low. Just tried to beat the game.

You weren't kidding about the bulk of your score coming from the end of game bonuses.

 

Consider also that 1,250,000 of your score will come from beating each of the 50 levels (25,000 at the end of each level).

And that's not even to mention the guaranteed 75,000 or so from eggs (give or take for bonus levels).

So yeah, my score sucks but I won't be improving it till the weekend.
At least progress comes first, so for now it is safe.
