Because the game is coming out next week, I figured I would make this now because I am feeling the hype pretty hard. I have never been a huge zelda fan, only actually played the NES, gameboy and snes titles plus OoT but I am really looking forward to the open world feel.

Looking forward to it for sure, hard to believe it's only a week away. I'm not really that hyped for it though, I've got stuff to play in the meantime. For me, the "hype" kicks in once I start unboxing it all and playing it for the first time. May be one of the few games where I decide to play it late and forgo some sleep for the next day.

I am much less enthusiastic about Zelda than most Nintendo fans seem to be, but I think this is the most hyped I've been for a Zelda game since OOT.

I have not been this excited for a Zelda game since Wind Waker. Breath of the Wild looks amazing in every way, but I've been avoiding any spoilers or footage like the plague. I want to be surprised.

I'll have BotW on launch day but no Switch console. I'm hoping a local retailer will have one at a midnight launch/early open. I have the week after launch off from work to play it so I'm really hoping to find one by then.

Half hype, half crippling anxiety.

Seen some article that GameStop will have some for in store purchase for those that haven't preordered not sure how many but it's worth a shot

I'm pretty excited about it. But, for being as big of a Zelda fan as I am, I'm not dying with excitement. Call it cautiously optimistic, I'm not sure. It looks good, but I'm afraid the land will be relatively barren with boring/repetitive side stuff. Hoping I'm wrong, of course.

I was pretty hyped for Skyward Sword actually.  It met my expectations but the first hour or two did start slow, like an over extended tutorial.  I hope Breath of Wild is a bit faster paced from the start.  I don't mind a little bit of hand-holding while you learn controls (or learn a new system), but 1-2 hours seems a bit over the top.

I felt the same way about SS, but I don't anticipate that there will be as much of a learning curve with the Switch when compared to the Wii. It's basically an oversized 3DS so I think it will feel very familiar. Fingers crossed anyway.

I've tried to stay cautiously optimistic about this release but every time I think about playing it, I get giddy like a child. This release finally made me crack open my copy of Skyward Sword and finally play it. God, I hate the motion controls (so far), it makes it more frustrating than enjoyable but hopefully I can get through it before next Friday

I just finished Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD in anticipation.

Breath of the Wild will be the fourth Zelda I have on release, following Zelda II, Zelda III, and GC Twilight Princess.

I'm with the both of you.  I enjoyed Skyward Sword and really got sucked into it until I finished it, though the slow start didn't bother me all that much.  However the hype level for SS just wasn't there for me like it is now with BotW.  I don't think it really has to do with the newness of the Switch ... I can't really put a finger on why I feel that way.

Same here, way hyped. I've got the Switch, BotW, BotW Guide and a shiny new Pro Controller all on pre-order. Took next Friday 3/3 off to game it up, haven't been this hyped for a new system/game combo in a very long time!

Aren't you expecting a baby too?  Get it in now while you can, haha.

I have two young girls myself and my gaming is relgated to after 8:30PM and before 8AM.  I either stay up late or wake up early.  Enjoy taking the day off to game because those days may be numbered!

I'm super hyped for it, I loved Skyrim (Well, love, still play it) so this is gonna be a wild ride, I've already got the USA Special Edition of BoTW, the Deluxe Edition complete guide for BoTW, the First 4 Figures statue of Link, and the expansion pass all pre-ordered, along with a set of tempered glass screen protectors, the HORI playstand, and a pro controller, and I'll probably get arts and artifacts as well as hyrule historia sometime down the line since I haven't read either despite being a massive Zelda fan, as you can see by my name. The only thing I'm missing is the Switch itself, I'm hoping to score a grey one at one of the midnight launches, I'm thinking if I get there around 6:30 PM I should be good, if I go to a place like Toys R Us. I do live in Saint Louis, which is a city, but not a super populated one so I don't think it'll be as hard as it would be if I lived in New York city or something at the very least.

Yessir in May, and duly noted!  Have 2 step kids currently but never took care of a newborn - I might not be able to play for a while!  Definitely will soak up the day off on 3/3 - now questioning how long I'll have to wait for the Amazon launch day shipment to come in on 3/3

Hope you enjoy the launch weekend as well as I know you've got the Switch and BotW coming too!

Ok so hype in full effect 10/10 now, taking off Friday too.

Gamestop posted a hell of a "first impressions" article. I wouldn't call it spoilers, just more of some combat / movement scenes. If you are sensitive to that stuff though then wait until Friday.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/...

Two great hype phrases from the article, the first and last sentences:

If the entirety of Breath of the Wild maintains the beauty and variety seen in its opening hours, it will be a strong contender for the best Zelda game of all time.

Based on our early impressions, it's safe to say that Breath of the Wild will forever change what people expect from the series.

Very Cool!

Really lookin forward to it and was thinking about taking Friday off as well but i have both Switch and Breath of the Wild Master Edition pre ordered online. I do have release day delivery though but that usually always means they won't be delivered to my place till the evening, like 5-8. So no real reason for me to take the day off. If i d see it gets delivered early though i may just have to come down with a sickness!
