If you can purchase a Nes for $500, then at that point the extra $50 shouldn't be a problem for you.

Because a Framemeister costs 400 dollars, and if you happen to live in - say - Europe and want an NTSC NES with all the modifications an Analogue Nt entails plus an XRGB Mini you're looking at a grand or so in total after finding someone to do them for you. Unless you can do all these mods yourself (which many can't). And even if you could, you'd already be way past the price point for an Nt before you even start to add shipping into the equation.

Now, for those who already have an RGB modded 60hz NES and a Framemeister the argument for throwing money on this one might not be great. But plenty of people don't have that setup already. This is clearly a machine made for them.

Sure, externally it looks pretty but it sstill plays NES games like a used NES and will get a dirty connector when you put your dirty games in it.

Yeah, for $500 you could buy a hot glue special and then pay someone to fix it when it
doesn't work right.  Not my first choice.

Here is a cost comparison
AV Famicom $100
NESRGB $90
NES/Famicom adapter $30
Install fee $50-100 (or install yourself if you got skills)

So you would be in about $300 for that setup.  I think it's fair if you consider the features and uniqueness of it.
Now does the Famicom 15 pin controller port work for everything and is the expansion audio wired correctly for games like Gimmick?  I would be concerned about those issues.

I wasn't aware that Drakon's work had the reputation of being a "hot glue special".

Do a google search you'll be very horrified with the images you'll find. It's actually kind of sad and I would be pissed if that's how my stuff came back. He also charges to fix his mistakes as well. It's really sad as I thought he was an okay fella, but man was I wrong on that one.

That's really too bad.   But I do recall his prices looking too good to be true. (relative to what I'm familiar with from Ben Heckendorn and the more experienced modders on his forums)

CRT and a front loading NES for me. That's how I want it to look. So my opinion is $500 is ridiculous.

I just googled and found this thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewto...

Jesus. I feel bad for bursting out laughing when I saw the melted AV Famicom.
