Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be Defender 2.  Here are the rules:

  • Choose 1 Player Game A
  • Play until you lose your last life.  Quickly pause the game once you die to get your score.
  • Do not play any further than Attack Wave Z.  If you complete the wave, quickly take your picture when you see the “Attack Wave Z Completed” screen.
  • You can't hang in a wave to point press respawning enemies. You need to progress from wave to wave normally.
  • Highest score wins
  • Participation: 20,000
  • GENRE: Shooter/Shoot 'Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 6/18/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

  i am not good at this game. 33k is my highest score after about an hour of practice :/ aaaayyyyeeee

Well, I guess I have to start over.
I was sitting here with a 455K score right after returning from my 5 am 5K Sunday run, but at attack wave III.

Well, takes a bit over 30 minutes to get to attack wave Z and it will make it a bit tougher for the new guy to beat my first score after returning from surgery.
I guess I am okay with that.  

I will be posting my first score in 30 or so minutes.

I don't think I can do much better than this without point racking.
I need to get better at my saving rather than killing humans captured by Mars people skills to improve this score.

I am trying, but it is tough to get good at them.  

Also, the Mars people from Metal Slug look so much like the green mars people from Defender.
I wonder if both are set in the same universe!

I don't like how little time you have to take a picture if you complete attack wave Z. It's also not the easiest game to take a picture of your score because of bright text on black background. But there isn't much chance that I'll get that far anyway.

It would be better if we could pause and take a picture after that screen, but since there is no indication of which wave you are, it could be abused.
