#14 - Journey to Silius

I'm currently working on Game #17 and it's a long one.  My plan is to write up #15 later this week and #16 next week and go from there.

Journey to silius is fantastic. Just got that one a couple weeks ago

I've never played this one. Based on your review, it sounds like a fun game!

Thanks for checking in!  I didn't get a chance to get started on the new blogs like I had hoped.  I will get #15 posted this week for sure and #16 will probably be next week.  Instead of blogging, I've been spending most of my free time playing #17 and I am making excellent progress.

 

It's good to know that there will be a new blog up to read this week. They're really fun to read! I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that #17 is a RPG.

 

Finally a new post!  But I'm not so sure if this one was worth waiting for. 

#15 - BreakThru

This is one of those titles I've always wondered about but I may give it a play through now!

Neat. That game is not, at all, what I expected it to be from its title.

If you're looking for a game that you could sit down and beat in one shot, then this game is a pretty good candidate.
 
I had a similar experience that I wrote about in my post. 

Your review was pretty much the same as the impression that I got from it when we played it during last year's weekly contest. It's good enough to warrant a play through, but nothing really stands out about it.

#16 - Spy Vs. Spy

You hit the nail on the head again with this one. Me and a friend of mine used to play this for hours when we were kids. The two player mode is a blast to play, but the CPU player just wanders around without making any real effort to win. As long as you have someone to play with, it's a great game, but the single player mode is way too easy.

Some of you may have caught my latest beat in the Can NA Beat all the NES Games thread.  I finally got the blog post done on it!  I put a lot of work into this one and it's pretty lengthy but I hope you all will enjoy!

#17 - Lemmings

Will game #18 be up this week since it looks like you've already finished it based on your signature?

Yes, I will have it posted this week.  I have most of it written up already but I've been dragging my feet getting it finished.

Game #19 has been giving me problems since I started it a week and a half ago.  I'm hopeful that I'll be able to clear it within the next week but nothing is for certain.
 

Ocean actually outsourced the development of the game to Special FX Software.
The PAL version actually shows this in the credits.
 

You know, now I remember you mentioned this in the other thread when you beat Lemmings.  I've tried looking online and I can't find any other evidence of it, but if it's in the game then that's fact to me.  There was nothing about the developer that I saw while playing the US version.

Once I get caught up with blog posts, I am going to go back and do some revisions I've been meaning to do.  I'm adding this to my list.

#18 - Astyanax

I finished off Game #19 the other day and that blog is in progress.  That will probably take another week. 

Interesting write up. I remember seeing this at the video store as a kid, but I don't think I ever rented it. With all of the good platformers on the NES, I guess I never got around to giving it a try.

 

Nice write up! I need to pick up a new power cord for my nes so I can pick back up on beating some games.

Make no mistake, this isn't a top tier NES game by any means.  It's just alright if you're looking at it that way.  I didn't have much expectation going in to it and it was probably just a touch better than I was expecting.  Not bad for a $5 game!

 

That was the impression that I got from your review. I'm sure that I've played worse (I rented my share of lousy games as a kid), so I may give it a try one of these days.
