Apologies for the delays, I've been so busy. If it's any consolation, I do appreciate you keeping up with the updates! I always take time to at least take a look at every post and take in the great work!

Super Xevious: Gamp No Nazo

Level 8

Back in the game with a working controller. Still a tough sumbitch, though.

Nice.

Acromite still has us both beat, though.

Thanks. I was losing before this run because I didn't realize you had to fly out the gate before it closes.

I know they say Life Force is easier, but I feel more confident beating Gradius, only because the last level of Life Force is harder IMO.

Yeah, Konami sometimes puts a last "up yours" cheap shot just before the final "boss."

Gradius II has one of those as well.

It's alive!

Exed Exes

Round 7

738,300

The game also called me "BABYBOY", which is apparently part of a contest by the publisher Tokuma Shoten. That would have gotten me a silver members sticker if I were playing this game in 1985. In Japan. Pretty neat.

This game is brutal! It's not impossible like 3, but very challenging.

Updated!

I do apologize for the very very long delay in updates. So much has gone on these past... months.

Anyway, hopefully I can keep up with updates on this, even for my own sake - updating all those scores took forever!

Since I had a bunch of store credit, I went down to Gamestop to look at buying a Switch. I fooled around with it for a bit on the kiosk and tbh I don't know if I like the joycons. I felt like the Hulk, like I could break the thing on accident. I'm not sure how much better the pro controller is, but I've heard bad things about those as well. So, maybe down the road I guess.

It's a really good Compile shooter, though I think they have a few that are better.

Okay. I'll give it some more time. I will say that the weapons systems are really creative. And the way the lightning and that power up shot weapon look, man. I am a little surprised that the SNES could handle that. Whoever programmed that stuff must of been top of the line. The power up shot thing slowly gets bigger and darker and flickers in and out.

Yeah, Compile was usually really good at finding the maximum a system could handle and working around it.

Does anyone know how the scoring works in crisis force? It only shows score in between stages.
