Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  Here it is, the final game of the 2015 contests and we've saved a great one for last.  Just a heads up that there will be no contest during Christmas week as we prepare for the winter tournament.  The week following Christmas will see all the tournament fun begin.  But for now, here's this week's game: Palamedes.  Here are the rules:

• Play on 1 Player Mode
• Play on Level 1
• Play until you lose
• To get your score after you lose, select 1 Player Mode, Level 1 and immediately pause the game.  Your score will be in the high score spot.
• Highest score wins
• GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 12/20/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I made it to Level 17 on that run. The last time we played this back in 2013, I cleared all 20 levels with a score of 653,290 and ended up finishing in 11th place. Tom (rdunner) had the winning score that week with 924,060 points, so you can really rack up a ton of points if you can keep getting the 50k bonus for perfectly clearing each level.

Ps. Thanks to the organizers of these contests. Although I don't participate, I usually check them out. Hopefully when I have a permanent set-up I'll be more involved. Really cool to see the games and scores, though.

I'm not really a fan of puzzle games in general, but this one is a lot of fun. It's definitely worth checking out for anyone that hasn't played it before.

Agreed! (although I'm a sucker for most puzzle games, even if I'm terrible at them). I like the hint of Yahtzee. I keep trying to convince myself that the clearing possibilities could be expanded, but the existing rules can stack a bit (e.g. 2 sets of 3-of-a-kind give you 2 lines). Great game!
 

How does one perfectly clear a level?
 

The manual explains it in better detail, but it's basically clearing a level by only shooting the dice. The row at the bottom of the screen is similar to a poker hand and you can clear a certain amount of rows by pressing up based on how good your "hand" is.

Score update. I cleared all 20 levels this time, so I'm giving myself the rest of the week off.

You speak very highly about this game... so why not post a score? Or does your regular playtime with Bimmy cause a conflict of interest...?

If I can remember to do so on Sunday I will. Bimmy and I usually just play games like Monster in My Pocket or Submarine.
