So I was at goodwill today and my step mom was going to buy something that was $3.99 and she didnt want to pay that so she went looking for a price sticker for $0.99 and replaced them. I was just wondering if any one else does this because I found this quite ghetto tell me what you think

Well goodwill isn't exactly what they make everyone seem (They're a corporation just like Microsoft or McDonalds, not a charity) they just get their merchandise for free, mainly. I don't do this, but don't feel bad when it does happen.

In a typical retail setting, this is a form of shoplifting, and can be prosecutable (depending on city/state law)

Did she kick an orphan in the face on the way out too? Maybe put a cig out on the handicapped ladies' head?

That's super classy!

Typically, local PD didnt waste time coming out on these type of stops, but you could ban them from coming back. At that point, if they came back, we could have them arrested for trespassing. Just depends on PD participation and corporate rules as to the action you could take.

I was at Sears for 3 years and Value City for 2.  At both stores anything over $20 we would prosecute for.  No matter what the police would be called and they would be arrested though.

This is not true. They are a non-profit organization, and all the money raised goes into making unemployed individuals employed, and their services are used to bring these individuals up to code and ready to enter the actual work force.

People have a choice to donate these items to goodwill, or the salvation army. Whether you look at the item as "free" or not, it doesn't matter. Every store purchases or receives items at a much lower price than what you pay for it. Switching tickets and tags is illegal, period. I used to know individuals who used to do that with CD's and other electronics - they would take a sticker off a candle in walmart, put it on the CD, then go through the self check out. However, they eventually got busted. Even good will has cameras, and its not smart. Even so its wrong.

So no, I do not.

Goodwill used to be a place where you could buy things cheap. Ever since they started putting stuff for sale online, their prices have been jacked sky high. Most of the time they still sell crap.

And I've never switched price tags at Goodwill.

i was at the salvation army yesterday and got 4 golf clubs for my dad (he is a lefty and it is hard to find lefty clubs). these were tommy armours, and in nice shape. no price tags on anything. i figured they would be 2.99 a pop. i took them to the checkout, the lady called for a price check, no one came to help her, so she charged me .99 each. i didnt switch anything or do anything wrong, but i still feel like i ripped off the salvation army! haha, oh well!

No, I definitely never do that. Though I have been to Goodwill before and seen pricing with no consistency like they will have an NES game for .25 and then another one that's 3.99 sometimes that really makes me want to, since it's BS that some are more than others, but I just figure if I want it for the price they have it I get it, and if not, I don't.

most of the times that i've gone to good will... it's on a Saturday, and everything is like 50% off.... yes, so that means all the 2.99 shit is only 1.99... i'd be too paranoid running around looking for tags to swap so i could save a dollar or something... and the lines of ppl on those days are crazy... haha
