Quick suggestion. Have you thought about posting what the prize is in the contest thread after the contest is over. I think it would be cool to see the final score and prize when it's over!

Well, it's a start anyhow.  74,800  First pic is a trip, but at least you can see the score.  Hard to get good pics since the score flashes.  Score resets when you continue, so it might as well be no continues. And, if I'm not mistaken, didn't NOA try to keep any references to tobacco use out of the games?  The guy on the title screen is clearly smoking some kind of blue cig...

Ok, before you guys go all LOCO on me, I do have a 2 and 1/2 year old and she has a CareBear blanket, and both of her birthday cakes were done in a CareBear theme.. 

But there's nothing wrong with CareBears, in fact, I was watching the cartoon a few Saturdays ago!!

That first pic is intense! I enjoy how the high score keep repeating out of the TV.

this is my winning score
all i did was stay on level 1 and shoot as much people as i could
i spent about 3 hours playing the game on the first level
and made it to the 2nd
but i was super bored after staying on level 1 for so long
i swear on My NES collection i DID NOT USE the 30 lives code

Contra is one of the few games that I'm pretty good at, so I'll give you guys something to shoot for.  This was done without using the 30 life code (I promise).  I died for the first time at the beginning of the Hanger, and died a few more times shortly after because I just had my damn pea shooter.  I think I ended the game with 3 lives left, but had built up a max of 8 at the peak. 

Damn, looks like I have to edit my post after seeing the post above.  Looks like my score isn't going to be the one to beat.  Although, it took me around 20 minutes to beat the game.  I'll play again tomorrow and post back.

Its just unfair and you werent playing the game im sorry

so me playing the first level doesn't count as playing the game

this one's gonna get sticky. if we're going to play this game, we're going to need some set rules on it (BTW great score imanerd!)

i looked on twin galaxies, and this is all it said:

Special Rules: Limited leeching is permitted at the referee's discretion. Please note that when you beat the game, it starts over from the begining with your score intact, so you may continue on until you either lose all your lives and reach the Game Over Screen or the Score maxes out.

EDIT: and the max, if you're wondering is 6,553,500.

it shows he still has 5 lives and he is still on the first level

he beat the game. the score doesn't reset when you beat it.
