Hello there everyone! I'm back once again to run the 2018 Game Boy Color tracker, and while we are off to a pretty late start this year I think it'll still be a lot of fun. Before we get started I'd just like to thank GBC Collector and KrakenSoup for all the hard work they put into running this tracker in previous years, and I hope that neither of them will mind me using their game tracking template for this year.

Rules
• You must have started the game no earlier than January 1, 2018.
• Emulators and Virtual Console are okay but no save states or cheats may be used.
• Photos are not required, but encouraged.
• Only the North American library of Game Boy Color games is being officially tracked, however I will still award points for European or Japanese exclusive games as well as homebrews and fan translations beaten so feel free to mention them if you happen to play through any.
• Most games should have an end game or credits screen, however in the case of arcade style games with no credits or end screen you can consider them "beaten" if you are able to top the highest score listed on the game's high score screen.
• Any other questions that arise as to what constitutes beating any given game will be dealt with on a game to game basis.

2018 Goals
• Beat as many games as we can!
• Top 2017's score of 28/452

And so it begins!
The list in the original post has been updated with Splain taking the lone spot at the top of the leaderboard. I've been playing through Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers for the first time over the last couple days and am halfway done at this point (on Level 3 of 6) so I should have something to contribute soon as well.

Well, is a Game Boy Color game even though the original retail box didn't label it as such. The game was programmed as a backwards compatible Game Boy Color game like the black GBC carts you often see, and even Nintendo has since officially recognized that Pokémon Yellow is a Game Boy Color game by labeling it as such in their 3DS eShop. At this point there is really no debate as to whether or not it's a Game Boy or Game Boy Color game.

Actually it's not listed in the Game Boy thread, since it's a GBC game

Then what is Gloves on about.

Edit:  I actually forgot you're doing the GB thread and Gloves' thread is the Switch one.  Got it mixed up.

The labeling in the 3ds shop is a misnomer. That's not saying "this is a GBC game", it's telling you which emulation software they use to play it.

Anywho, I'm just pulling your leg anyway, no worries. ;P

Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers is done as well.

This was my first time playing through Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers, and while I normally use a regular old Game Boy Color for playing GBC games this game just looked so beautifully animated that I decided to pop it in the GameCube's Game Boy Player and play it on the big screen to really appreciate all the graphical detail that went into it. I also didn't want to miss any clues that might be hiding in the backgrounds, seeing as how this is a point and click type adventure game. It is a rather short game and only took me three and a half hours or so to complete, but it was without a doubt the best Scooby-Doo video game that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The characters looked great, the writing was pretty funny, and the whole setting and story really felt like a classic Scooby-Doo cartoon episode come to life. I also liked how the puzzles, while fairly challenging, were never too cryptic or convoluted to solve on your own if you spent a few minutes thinking about them. I never got stuck or had to use a guide at all, which is pretty rare for me when it comes to point and click adventure games. The only thing I could really criticize about the game was the music, which was often a little lackluster aside from a lovely chiptune rendition of the classic Scooby-Doo theme that plays during the opening and the credits. All in all I had a ton of fun with this game and would highly recommend it to any Scooby-Doo fan with a Game Boy Color compatible system.

Fired up Magical Tetris Challenge and beat Quest mode on Normal. I think that's a decent requirement since the other modes are endless as far as I can tell.

At first I thought Quest mode was a dumb attempt at adding strategy/RPG elements to the game, while still leaving your success largely up to chance. You have to collect certain numbered coins from people, and you don't always know what coins people have until you beat them at Tetris. Most of the time I was playing people and finding out that they only had coins that I didn't need. But I kept getting beat by CPU players who were getting all their coins before me. So I had to dive into the strategy of it and learn how to find the coins I needed. More interesting than I thought.

Tonight I decided to complete Ms. Pac-Man: Special Color Edition using the same criteria as the Ms. Pac-Man in the original Game Boy thread, that being to see all 3 intermissions, but I was doing so well that I kept playing well past the third intermission. In the process I learned something I never knew about this game... there are more than 3 intermissions!

Every other version of Ms. Pac-Man I've ever played only had 3 intermissions, but in this one after you clear the 4th maze enough times you are taken back to the 3rd maze, then if you clear that a few more times you get to see a 4th intermission where Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Pac-Man Junior are all standing around and the stork comes and drops off a second Pac-Man Junior! After that intermission something totally unexpected happens...

You're taken to a new maze that I've never seen in any Pac-Man game before!   If you manage to clear that maze you're taken back to the 4th maze but with the ghosts behaving much more aggressively this time around, and clearing that maze twice takes you to...

Yet another new maze! I was totally blown away by this discovery and now I'm wondering if there are any other previously undiscovered intermissions and mazes in Ms. Pac-Man: Special Color Edition, and if these extra mazes and intermission/s are in the original Game Boy version as well. In any case, with a final score of 140,130 I'm going to call this one complete.

In the meantime, I grabbed Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and played through a game. I picked this up as part of a bundle a long time ago, and I never had any idea how barebones it was. It's just a trivia game where you answer 15 questions. Slightly stylized.

And look at the credits! That was obviously a bored dev! "Hey, congratulations. You're a millionaire! Well, you're really a fake millionaire. But c'mon... what did you really expect?

I honestly have no idea, I've never been good enough at Super Pac-Man to survive long enough to find out. What I did learn though is that the two extra mazes I got to in Ms. Pac-Man last night are the only two extra mazes in the game and they should be present in the original Game Boy version as well. Not sure if there are more than 4 cutscenes though.

And thanks for the kind words on my GBC! I bought it new in box for $35 about 6 years ago when retro gaming stuff was still cheap, tossed in some custom colored buttons, then kept it in a padded case whenever I wasn't using it and never dropped it or anything like that; so aside from a little wear in the case's finish around the d-pad and buttons from thumb rubbing it still looks just like new.

I just finished beating planet of the apes. I've got pictures to post later when i get a chance. Overall not a great game but not bad either. I appreciate that there were no game overs. The only consequence to dieing was restarting the current level.

I applaud your drive and skills to discover those extra stages. That’s a nice touch by the devs to have thoses extra stages as bonus content.

If you would of told me that you pulled your GBC out of the box and swapped buttons 5 minutes ago, I would have believed you. It’s in that great shape.
