Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests!  This week's game is the first beat 'em up of the year and should be a challenging one.  The game is Adventures of Bayou Billy and here are the rules:

  • Play on Mode B (no zapper)
  • Point racking is not allowed
  • You may not play any of the Practice Stages to boost your stats in the main game
  • Play until Game Over
  • Highest score wins
  • Please note that only the NTSC version of this game will be allowed this week.  Anyone suspected of using a foreign version of this game (the difficulty is different on the NTSC version) will have their score disqualified.
  • GENRE: Beat 'Em Up


The contest ends Sunday, 3/9/14 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Damn this is the first week that I wanted to participate and now only NTSC copies are allowed. I guess I'll have to wait another week

I cannot believe I whiffed on the first driving stage on the second loop. I haven't ever really had a lot of trouble with those even as a kid.

Bayou Billy. I do have this one in NTSC format, but this one is simply way too hard. I guess I'll have to play it anyway...

Damn Raz,nice score. And I thought my 28k was solid. Guess I'll have to try whenever we get power back although who knows when that will be. I've never seen it do this weather-wise.....booming thunder and fierce lightning like something you'd see in a thundestorm....despite it being 30 degrees....all while it was pouring down sleet. Mind blown.

I don't normally die on the driving parts but I got wiped today.

We had a heavy snow a few weeks back and it had the heaviest, loudest thunder I have ever heard. Iliterally thought maybe a meteor had hit or something.

I always figured it sucked because I always end up with 20 copies of it lol

I really like this game,but it's pretty tough. I do like the different modes that you play. It definitely keeps things interesting.

Can anybody think of a worse beat'em up for the NES? I remember this game being so terrible when I was a kid. I'm gonna give it another shot though hopefully its not as bad as I remember.

Play Bad Street Brawler. Bayou Billy has nothing on that game.

It's a lot better once you figure out how to maneuver around the enemies. Nothing can fix the driving. The shooting is fun too.

I just tried a practice run and its not too bad, just the enemies take alot of hits before dying. Always be jump kicking until you get the stick and use it. They do follow a pattern just take your time. I got to the driving and forgot about the guns (driving is what I remember being brutal). Going to be an interesting week.

I am horrible at this game. HORRIBLE. Not sure if its worth the effort to try get in top 10.
