I haven't updated this in a while, but I figured this would be worth it.
I was in Ontario for a trip for the week, and went to a flea market, and found this:
Now to the story:
Me and my girlfriend were hunting for some games, and we stumbled upon this reseller booth (yay?). This was the second reseller booth in this flea market, and it had crazy prices. First things I saw was a metroid on nes for 50$,earthbound for 200, and chrono trigger for 90$. Then, a little thing caught my eye, it was in the bottom glass window of his booth...It was....Ducktales 2 cib. I know right? By this time I am sick to my stomach, because there isn't any price on it, chances are he wants too much. So I keep looking, and looking. He also had some stuff in the back, mostly cib n64 games, I keep looking, and then I spot it. In the far far back, where noone else would see it, and where customers were not allowed. Surprise at Dino peak cib next to Dino Hoppy cib.. I tell my girlfriend what I just found, and she couldn't see it, I tried pointing at it, but she wouldn't see it. Anyway, I almost left at that point without even asking the guy, I figured he would give me and insane price over 3k.
But before I left, I figured I would give it a shot anyway.I look at the guy, and ask him ''Is the stuff in the back for sale?''.He replies ''Most of it isn't, it's mostly an investement''.. Now I am thinking great, he knows what this is worth since he's ''investing it''. So I tell him ''So I guess that dino peak ain't for sale then?'' He looks at me, and he says something that I never expected.''I'd let it go for $320''.My legs almost gave up on me, I was shitting my pants. My girlfriend looks at me and goes ''How much does he want?''. I reply ''320''. I look at the guy and say ''can I take a look at it.'' He goes ''sure''. I look at my girlfriend trying to hide my excitement, and she knows what it's worth, so she's trying to keep her cool as well.He comes back with it, and hands it to me. I take it out of the box, everything looks good. Anyone else would of just given him 320, and walked away, but not me. I look at him and go ''Would you take 300?'' in a pretty calm voice. He looks at it, and says ''Yeah I would''.At this point every emotion is running through my head as I am handing him the 300 dollars. My parents are actually there wondering what the hell is going on, and why I am spending 300 on a ''damn vidya gam''. I explained to them what it was later.
The guy was pretty nice, even though his knowledge on video games wasn't very good. He was telling me that ducktales 2, chip and dale 2, and bubble bobble 2 were blockbuster exclusives. Which they were not.He gave me his card, and told me that he shipped and stuff.
It makes me wonder, how long had it been since he checked the prices on that game? I doubt he gave me a good deal on purpose. All his other games seemed up to date. He also wanted 175 for his cib ducktales 2, which I skipped. It makes me think that he had that game up there for a few years, but nobody ever inquired on it, since it was so hidden.
Needless to say, after it was all over, I was shaking for 15 minutes. I could not believe what was going on. I almost walked out without asking the guy. This is a lesson I learned as well, never skip a reseller booth. If I didn't stay there so long looking at every spot to see if I could find a gem, I would have walked out empty handed. I also almost didn't ask him, thinking he would have given me a crazy price on it.
Now I have an extra cart in my collection
I don't know if I am going to keep the CIB or just sell the cart.
