Well, I gave it another go today, but wasn't able to improve my score (lost at 48 again, but beat it using a continue).

Oh, and Red... Yes.
That Level is unique for a very specific reason.
If you can break through level 32, the next toughie is really 48.
Then it's smooth sailing again for a little while.
Hmm? What is the very specific reason it is unique?
Yeah, it seems loop 3 is the same as 2, so the toughest stages are going to be when 32 and 48 repeat again.

It's not too terrible. The trick is to grab a roll cage each lap. There are four of them, two on the first turn on the inside and two more on opposite ends of the first straightaway. Just have to be careful not to try and double up on the roll cages on the inside turn since they are so close together. There is a good chance orange and green will take off on you. Try and use the roll cage to knock them out since that won't auto trigger them. If you can't stop them, just focus on keeping blue in check with your roll cage, the oil slicks and missles.
Ha, I try to grab as many roll cages as I can the first lap so the other cars don't get them. I never had a problem with the other cars passing me when I grab the first two though. Do you (and Commander Santa) prefer the missiles? I seem to do better with the bombs.
