This week we're going to play Marble Madness! Here's the rules:

• Use either control style
• One player only
• Take your picture when you get a Game Over, or if you score high enough, on the High Score screen
• Highest score wins

The contest ends Sunday, 8/19/12 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name must be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Good luck everyone and have fun.

I must admit that I'm a bit rusty on Marble Madness. I'll need a few dozens games to re-master it and try to make, at least, a 170k score.

I think you'll pick it back up faster then you think. I hadn't played in a looong time until the other night, first run I finished with 76secs left, kind of surprised myself.

Sounds like you're right dude cause I just made a 164kish run on my fourth try, haha!

Definitely out of practice. Need to get a controller that I haven't abused for 20 years and go at it some more, I haven't cracked 145k yet in 2 days.

Well, wasn't sure whether I wanted to or not, but hell, I've been away from this contest far too long and saw Marble Madness up, couldn't resist. Just shortly after seeing this game posted for this week I started almost immediately after in trying to rack up some decent scores, shortly after that I get two invites, wanted to ignore them since I still wasn't sure if I wanted to take competing seriously or not. Well, done played for 3 days straight now, pretty much doing nothing with my spare time except playing this game, so yeah, I guess I can say I am competing. Give you guys something to shoot for.

At first I was beating the game regardless of how I did, but then after I got my current high score below all I've been doing is resetting every time I lost a life or totally didn't get a good run in a level, and so far, cannot even get close to what I have in pics below. And have yet to get lucky, no more than 2 wands in a run, just not good enough to achieve an ultimate score. Hell, my very best run through this game where I played so perfectly that I'm not sure I could do any better I didn't get a single wand, really upsetting because I could've beaten my score from 3 years ago. The whole thing with the wands, just pisses me off, I'm finding that unlike the contest a few years ago when I was first learning this game, I'm already really good at it and wands are a rarity now, when I need them most to boost my score.

Anyway, top score so far 175,330 (personal top score to beat 177560, I'm going to need some massive luck and a really good play to surpass that one, moreso to beat the top 2 scores that 3 years ago)

Indeed, once you get a top score, then you can't play randomly as you wish. You absolutely need to be at your best each run or it is an early reset. That's a bit frustrating when you get there, but that's the best way to maximize the effort to get the ultimate score before the end of the week.

Thank you. Actually that was Monday's score, was hoping I could best that before posting, but since I haven't yet, and neither has anyone who's posted so far, may as well get it posted up now. Was going to call it quits and get back to a cross-stitch I was working on, but really, I can't put this game away yet, not done until the contest is over.

That's the thing with a Marble Madness contest. You can't just play a few games and be satisfied with your score, it is a full dedication until the end. I'll have a hard time finding time to play by the end of the week though, cause I'm going out of town to see my family. I'll have a nes to play there, but it's not like taking an evening by your own to play.

Here's my score after about 10 games.  I don't expect to win because I have lost whatever talent I once had on the Silly Race, but I'll try again tomorrow nonetheless.
