After opening the purchased module, the board seems a bit improvised. My question is if this is a homebrew

That's definetely a reproduction. Those usually use UV EPROMs.
Nintendo had custom pinout OTP (One-Time-Programmable) EPROMS.

Though there was boards that used UV EPROMs as well but those didn't had any rewiring.

Yeah, put a sticker or some opaque tape over it if you want the game to still play. Ultraviolet light will erase it.

But otherwise, yeah, a reproduction (not homebrew, as those are original games made more recently.)

Could this be a repair or translation hack? I only ask this since only the PRG rom seems to be replaced, not the CHR. Unless something else is going on with it.

Nintendo had mask roms, aka ICs that were hard fabricated with data at the factory, nothing to do with EPROMs.

Probably not. That CHR chip is not a rom, rather it is a 6264 RAM chip which was used in UNROM boards like that. I doubt it is a repair, I think there would have been a much cleaner solution than that.

if you had a legit rodland and the prg chip failed, this would be the only way to fix it. unfortunately the prg chip is the only thing unique to the game, everything else could be from another game. it's definitely low quality work though, i'd expect more from a repair or a repro.

if I search rodland repro I found this "prototype " with a EV EPROM. I haven't the original rodland maybe all copies build with uv eprom?

no, retail copies have mask roms. that proto is on a uneprom board, which is a prototype board designed for eproms. you have a bootleg.
