What do you think the worst Nintendo games are? They can be 1st or 3rd party. They can also be unlicenced. In my opinion it is Superman 64.

Dragon's Lair - NES, Twas a broken mess. Proof that Nintendo's seal of quality doesn't mean anything except for a paycheck for licensing fees.

There was a bracket style poll (probably in Gamers Gauntlet) about the worst games ever. I can't find it, but many of them were released on a Nintendo console.

This is the perfect choice. Even the bad games on the console are still playable for at least a level, Dragon's Lair is unplayable on the very first screen, and even though most unlicensed games are real trash (excluding tengen and camerica), Dragon's Lair may be the worst of the bunch.

I made a lot of people salty during that by saying that Mega Man X7 is a worse game than Superman 64. I still stand by that statement, because there was 1 outstanding Mega Man X game, 3 excellent Mega Man X games, and 2 okay Mega Man X games before X7. There was never a truly good Superman game before Superman 64. Failure to live up to your place in gaming history weighs a lot more than being just another licensed super hero game made for quick cash.

This thread's title, however, immediately made me think of Star Fox Zero. I hope there's never another first party Nintendo title as bad as that.

The game I hate the most right now is Xenophobe.

I'd also like to express some rage towards Strider.

It having the opportunity to be one of the best, falling way short, makes it a contender in spirit for worst games.

Ps. Jerbilly... is that you?

This thread would be much more fun and challenging if we would limit it to first party games by Nintendo.

Wii Music
Metroid Federation Force
Star Fox Zero
Phantom Hourglass (That dungeon...) + Spirit Tracks (Overworld on LITERAL rails...? Yay!)
ExciteBike (sorry... but I can't stand this boring game and its mechanics)
Super Mario Land (feels like playing a Chinese knock-off Mario game)
Some of the Black Box sports games were pretty useless

I thought about adding some Virtual Boy games... but the first party stuff was decent. Although the visuals are lethal to your eyes.

Superman 64 is a very internet answer. Most of the 3d platformers of that era were really bad, what makes Superman worse than Busby 3d, Quest 64, or Castlevania 64.

the fact its not really a platformer. But rather just a bad 3d game with no interesting gameplay even if the camera and controls being responsive. On top of that, like a lot of 3d games of the time, it looks like crap.

That is true of a lot of N64/PS1/Saturn games.

but castlevania 64 is a good game, you just have to accept that it's different from the older ones. quest 64 is pretty good too.

Quest 64 and Castlevania 64 aren't broken games are they? Superman 64 has the bland, boring, and repetitive gameplay that maybe you could accuse the others of but you're not constantly getting stuck in walls and falling through levels in them are you? Never played them so I don't know.  I've never heard those accusations, but people saying they're not very fun.  As for Bubsy, isn't it generally considered terrible and unfinished? I'd say that is a pretty fair comparison on that one.

Well, Quest 64 wasn't even finished and it turned out better than most.

Having played Superman 64 though, I basically refuse to group it in with truly bad games. It's got some questionable mechanics and struggles to be fun in some areas, but there are games considered "greats" and "classics" that have the exact same problems. Superman 64 is a bad meme.

Yeah of course "lethal" is an exaggeration and hyperbolic. But I honestly don't know how you are able to enjoy long periods of play on that thing. Most of us can play any console for 6 hours straight and be perfectly fine, but I'd wager a bet that if you did that with the Virtual Boy, you'd be hurting.

my eyes don't hurt after playing vb for 6 hours, on the real console, not an emulator. I could see an emulator on an lcd screen causing pain because red on an lcd is a lot harsher than the red LEDs on the original console.

They are broken in the same way as most 3D games of that gen are. For instance in Shadows of the Empire you could get stuck in walls or not be able to walk through open doors and have to use the debug code to get past. Conker would have to be reloaded on occasion because some event couldn't be triggered or a button prompt wouldn't work. It was even possible to get stuck on some objects in Goldeneye . Those are just problems with early 3D games.

I just don't wanna hear anyone start quoting Angry Video Game Nerd videos as he is wrong more often than not and is picking on games because they are internet famous bad and not really bad. A lot of the games he reviews just fall under the NES hard category and he just sucks at them (although stuff like Silver Surfer is brutal).

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Where's Waldo
Shaq Fu
Dragons Lair
any of those bible games

Of course there is just a ton of really boring sports games. Boring an bad are two different things like I really don't wanna play Jack Nicklaus golf on the NES.

Are those prevalent, though?  I never had that happen in Shadows of the Empire or Goldeneye so it's news to me that people had issues with it.  I won't disagree that the first era of 3D is just garbage in general, though.
