I palyed almost 2 days straight working on mode b from level 0.5 and up. I didn't want to do level 9.5 until I beat every level before it. Now today I will play level 9.5 then move onto mode a when I am finished.

This doesn't count (started on level 15), but thought I'd show it off.  My new high.

How were you able to start on level 15?  Save state, game genie, hack, or what??

You can do this trick on B type as well if you really want to test your tetris skills.  Level 19 at 5 height is so fast I just die instantly

Updated my score. Hopefully the 2nd and 3rd place scores will give someone a laugh or two.

I updated the rules a little bit to make it more clear that you take your best score on Mode A for the week and your best score on Mode B for the week and add them together to get your final score. You don't have to submit both scores at the same time. If you want to work on Mode A and then on Mode B a couple days later, that is fine. You don't have to play them back to back. Please be sure both of your picture submissions are in the same post, though. It will make it much better to tally scores if both pictures are in the same post and not two separate pages in the thread.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Figured I'd at least submit a score. I played type A one time and about 20 times for B.

Best score
473,529

Guess I'll have to try better to compete this week!

I've never been very good at these types of games, but I'm happy to have broken 50K in A setting. Got quite far based on how I used to play. Around 65K (pictures forthcoming). I was going to say WTF with these scores?!! But I see we're adding two together. Interesting. I hope to get at least 100K in A by the end of this one, this just isn't my kind of game. Never liked this version, either, the pieces have this tendency to 'stick'.

Can't play Level 19 very well, so this is probably the best I can do.  I'll take 400k anytime!

But enough from me.  Let's see some real scores!

I think it would be best if you only accepted scores for B mode on the screen after dying, and not like on the screen above. Theres no way to know these scores were actually scored on height 5 mode because you can just play LVL 9 height 0, set a high score and it would show up on the same screen with no difference then if you did it on height 5.
I know the contests are on the honor system anyway so it shouldnt matter as any score is basically taken on its word regardless.
I'm also not saying you should invalidate any scores posted like this, or implying there was any wrong-doing. Just felt like it was importnat and over-looked.

Eh, I'm not worried.  The same can be said for A-Type, since we're required to start on Level 0.  That's even harder to prove because the ending screen looks exactly the same no matter what level you play.

It just all comes down to honor and trust.

Agreed. The only way to truly validate is with video recordings. And if you think I'm going to play B TYPE again, I'd rather just take a zero at this point. It took me several hours to get that score, and I won't bother playing it again

It's possible, but highly unlikely. Someone will need to score 830,000+ on A-TYPE and 70,000+ on B-TYPE.

Getting over 700,000 is a feat on it's own, and it's not something that happens often, even to the most skilled players. Maybe a few exceptional players can do it (the consistent max out players), but aside from that, very unlikely, unfortunately.

Good point made by Herbalist, which is something I over looked.  I'm not going to invalidate any scores prior to this since it was over looked and brought up this late into the contest, but any Type B scores submitted from now on will have to have proof that it was played on Level 9, Height 5.  Pictures on the screen above, or, the screen where you enter your intials for a high score, will no longer be accepted.  Your pictures should now be taken on the death screen (right when you lose when the screen fills up with lines), or if you beat Mode B, on the screen where you see all the Nintendo characters playing the musical instruments.
