When you know where the SOL towers and the flags are, the game becomes easier. I just got 150K on my last attempt! Gonna crack 200K soon

All four flags from the arcade version appear in the same general areas. The first one is in the first long river, the second one is in/around the small pond, the third is in the lake right before the dock and the fourth one is in the big desert area.

Disappointed I didn't get higher,I started a game right after my high score. Didn't work out so well. I hate all the parting shot bullets the game throws at you. So cheap.

Oh boy, oh boy... Guess that means I really got to go with trying for every one of those hidden-away flags and towers... This is gonna be tough. Although, if nobody has figured it out by now from my banner, Xevious is one of my favorite games. Just hope that shows in my score!

(P.S. BriGuy, if I in fact don't let you down, but happen to kick your ass as well... No hard feelings huh?) lol jk

I've been getting my ass kicked alot lately... so its cool!  I'm trying to go back to back weeks of predicting the winner. I'm like a Nintendo odds maker.  I had you as a 3-1 favorite before this week but you've come down a bit with all the monsters we've got playing this season. Good luck brotha!

After much hand cramping, finally got over 100,000.  Personal victory and now relaxing.  Finding those flags really helped.

This game just totally kick me in the balls. I made it to that wire framed triangle thing and the nail bomb things.

I had 4-5 solvalou around 140k. lost all my solvalou at that point without breaking 150k.

Ouch.

updated my score (not by much) but I need a break. About halfway through the game the graphics went haywire so I was just mashing both buttons in an effort to carpet bomb everything. I was hoping to try and break into the 200k but eh, not worried about it. Moving on.

I just had the run of a lifetime.  I was in the zone, the 1UPs were flowing like candy, and the scatter bomb patterns decided to be a bit kind (most of the time).

Yeah, that guy from uberNES with the 10 million point score has to be getting nervous at this rate!

With less than 24 hours remaining to submit a score this week for Xevious, here is your weekly contest update.

First, The Stats...

- 29 contestants have entered a valid score over the participation threshold this week so far

- 14 participants have submitted scores over 100,000 points

- 6 Sovalou Masters have topped a score of  200,000

Top 3 Scorers for the Week thus far
1. erizisto -        2,396,230
2. acromite53 -     559,150
3. moobox -          352,530

NEWS...

Five NA Championship Participants Shatter the twingalaxies.com World Record this week for Xevious

With time still left on the clock, Nintendoage has proven once again that many of the world's best NES players call NA home.
Back in 2010, twingalaxies.com member Mark A. Stacy submitted a score of 236,490 that has stood as the "official" world record for the past 5 years. Although 2 players over at uberNES.com have managed to top that mark, no other sanctioned scores have been recorded that have topped that since...      ...until now.

Nintendoage shump masters erizisto, acromite53, moobox, WickedWonka, and bearcat-doug have all out scored twingalaxies' best score in attempts to take the Xevious crown this week.
Congrats to all five players in reaching a score most people in the world have never seen in the NES version of Xevious.

NESMASTER14 Un-earths Xevious video from the 1980's with Bizzare Results

NA Member NESMASTER14 entered the championship fray this week and brought along with him a video made by the creators of Xevious. The makers of Xevious hail from Japan, hence the language of this interesting video is completely in Japanese.
Special NA reporter bearcat-doug "doug" a bit deeper this week into the film and discovered there may have been an issue with the translated subtitles.
Is this just a case of botched localization, or is this - as others claim - clearly a secret message embedded by the illuminati?
Take a look at some of the excerpts uncovered by bearcat-doug and judge for yourself.

Sample 1: "I proceed to the abolition reduced both league more than 30 kinds of procurement difficulties of beef."

Sample 2: "American Police are after all against it."

Sample 3: "Young guys in Hong Kong post I to pound was good."

Spooky stuff. We've also been notified that bearcat-doug has returned safe to the United States after covering this story.

erizisto and acromite53 Trade Punches Early and Often in this Week's Contest

acromite53 was the first participant to top twingalaxies.com's world record on Day 2 of this week's contest, but current high score holder erizisto fired back the next day to overtake that impressive score. All week long these two "shumpers" have been slugging back and forth, each time one out scoring the other. Both are currently comfortably in 1st and second place, but competition is heating up.

moobox had his best run of the week here on Day 6 scoring 352,530 to wrestle away third place from 2012 Nintendoage Shump Champion WickedWonka - (who is currently sitting at 290,630).

bearcat-doug has been holding on to 5th place (261,730) but 2014 Nintendoage Shump Co-Champion gutsman004 is hot on his heels with a breakout score he posted late on Day 5. Fellow 2014 Shump Co-Champion Balloon_Kid and Xevious Expert jump_man95 have been lurking this week, but have not yet revealed their hands.

There has been a big jump in scores over the past 2 days. Will the top 3 hold on to their spots this week, or will someone else finally solve Xevious to steal their spot in the 11th hour?

Will arnpoly and khog143 re-enter the Championships this week?

The answers will reveal themselves in less than 24 hours! Get your scores in!

Love the write up Santa! On a side note, have scientists unearthed the elusive fart chair last rumored to be buried in New Mexico along with countless E.T. carts? Inquiring minds want to know!
