Current Submissions:

    Pac-Man
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    Metroid
    Kid Niki
    Solar Jetman
    Jackal
    Fire n' Ice
    Blaster Master
    Super C
    Tetris
    Adventures of Lolo

You've no doubt seen the nifty (we think) corner graphic for Super Mario Bros and Solomon's Key in the lower left corner of your screen. Well, we'd like more of them, a lot more of them -- one for every game -- and we're willing to cough up the goods to get them.

That said, we've decided to run a little contest...

The Rules:

1.) Pick any two NES games that you'd like to design a cornerstone graphic for, design, and submit them. Maybe try picking games that were sentimental to YOU. Who better to make a cornerstone?

2.) You can submit more than two cornerstones, and we encourage you to -- the more you submit, the better your chances of winning, and the more we have for the site and everyone to enjoy.

3.) All cornerstones will be posted anonymously by an admin when judging begins, so please send them via email to [email protected].

4.) All judging will be by the members of the site.

5.) The winner will be announced and will receive a very nice prize! What prize you say? You'll just have to WIN to find out! You won't be disappointed.

6.) The winner can be located anywhere in the world!

7.) The contest begins NOW and will end Sunday, March 18th at Midnight EST.

Image Requirements:

1.) The file must be in GIF 89a format (transparent, if there's white space).

2.) The image must be 200 pixels wide x 250 pixels tall.

3.) The image must be bottom left justified with any extra space at the top and/or right side (see pic)

4.) The image must have the NintendoAge logo on it somewhere. You can even alter the logo to fit the theme of the cornerstone, so long as you can see it.

Sample:

Other than that, it's up to your creative eye!

Any questions? Just chime in.

I could start trying to use graphics if that would work better..... I just might need some help figuring out the dimensions and all....

I wanted to let everyone know that we're already getting submissions! I'll keep a running list of the games that have been submitted so as to encourage everyone to use different games (we'd hate anyone's work to go to waste).

So far, we have submissions for:

Pac-Man
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

What kind of program would you use to make something like this? I've never done any graphic stuff, but this seems like it could be fun.

For something like this, you can use an image editor like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, or any other utility out there (even Paintbrush). I take screenshots, then use the editor to move elements around, etc. One option would be to use some of the screenshots on the site to build the cornerstone.

One of our submissions used a custom font for the game, which I thought was pretty cool.

I made one last night. I have photoshop but it is WAY to complicated for me to figure out. I use Paint myself. I also used screenshots and a few regular images I already had. Then you just cut/paste them were you want them to go. Since it is a small image, you will probably have to zoom in and work a bit closer up. Using Paint just takes longer cause it doesnt have that many features.

BTW, custom art is fine! NGD's moniker is a character that my older brother Aaron created. It was hand drawn in Flash (you can use any vector-based graphics program, such as Illustrator or Flash) using a Wacom tablet. In other words, I'd like the images to look "old school" and 8-bit, but they can surely be as custom as you want.

I hope everyone is working on this contest a little. I think all of our members should at least attempt to make one of them. It only takes a few minutes and it is making the site look even more cool. Lets try to get at least 50 of these babies out of this contest guys.....
