Ok trying to beat this game, have been playing it for last two days.  Have almost all the tricks you learn from the books, except 1.  Have tons of money and have almost everything status wise maxed out.  I am stuck at the River City High School.  I can't figure out what the hell to do next?  I just keep beating everyone up going back and forth thinking I must need higher max levels or something or more money but that can't be the case?  Anyone offer any help here, fun as hell to play but now I'm frustrated as hell!

Have you gone up the stairs? I played this awhile ago, so it's not that clear in my mind, but I think you fight back and forth until you find stairs, and then you go up them (and repeat till you get to the top floor).

If you can't get into the high school it means you missed one of the bosses along the way.  Make sure you got the one in the Tire Factory, I think he gets missed sometimes.

Nope I beat it last night! Thanks Zdan, I did miss the boss in the one building with 2 floors in it. After I found him I ran through the rest of the game in like 7 minutes as everyone was so damn easy to beat once all my levels were maxed out. I did however really like beating up the dragon twins, especially when the Double Dragon music comes on in the background the whole time once they appear. LOL! Fun game all in all!

No problem, I remember having the exact same problem at one point when I was a kid....my gaming buddy and I spent countless hours playing it...it's fun playing alone, but this is the best 2 player game of all time imho   So much fun wacking your buddy in the head with a trash can when they try to take all the boss money!

Same thing happened to me too. So easy to miss one of the bosses and then you hit a dead end. But yeah the game is ridiculously easy if you max the stats (as I did too while trying to find what I missed).

Man, that game isn't even as good as the original Zelda; it's like "Zelda-on-a-rail."  And you got the title wrong to boot!

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

That has to be the most common problem people come across in River City Ransom. The simple solution is to go back to the beginning and beat the hell out of every single guy on every single screen.
