So I don't know how this even happened. but recently, whenever I open a program on my desktop such as Windows Media player, Kega Fusion or VLC. I have the sound coming from one side of my speakers. This doesn't happen when I play a youtube video or something from the internet, the sound plays fine from all the speakers. This is only happening with my desktop programs.

I've tried uninstailling/reinstalling my audio driver, didn't work
I've tried downloading realtek hd audio drivers, that made the sound only worst
I've tried configuring my speakers from Stereo up to 7.1 surround, didn't work

This is what I have,

Any help would be appreicated

Have you tried turning off any recording devices such as a camera or mic? Sometimes problems come from some audio recording device being on.

Make sure they are plugged all the way in and in the correct hole
Try a different set of speakers or headphones to determine if the problem is the computer or speakers

Is there any other software that's exclusive to your s/pdif audio device? Maybe there's some setting you can change there?

Make sure you haven't got the levels of one side set to zero?
You could try turning off the exclusive mode options too I guess.

I would reinstall all drivers and reset them to default first.

You have an NVidia card, so switch to Linux, works great. But really I have no clue on that, sounds strange. Apply any optional updates in windows update manager too, usually those are the only _actual_ important ones.

So I think this may have been the problem. My levels were on 68 but then I also went to the Advance tab and hit Restore Defaults, which I swear I clicked on before.

Anyways, sounds fix. Thanks everyone!
