Hello everyone! Welcome to the all-new season of Survivor: NA Edition! This game is a direct successor to Kokiri's previous round of Survivor, based off of the arguably infamous reality television show and ultimate strategy game. This game is perfect for all types of players! The lovers of social strategy games like Forum Werewolf, all you guys out weekly for the contests, to all the fans of Big Brother, and especially the alumni of Season 1 (I promise you that this time we'll actually finish ). I welcome all of you to try and become NintendoAge's Sole Survivor!
The Rules:
1.) Object of the Game
The object of the game "Survivor" is to be the Sole Survivor, that is, the last remaining player in the game. At the start of the game, players are split into two teams or "tribes" that compete against one another in challenges for "Immunity." Tribes that lose Immunity Challenges go to Tribal Council, where the players of the tribe vote out one of their own. Play continues this way until we hit a specific number of players, at which point the two tribes Merge into one. Immunity from challenges is then awarded on an individual basis.
2.) Tribes and Forum Threads
2a.) Make-up of Tribes
-The players are split evenly between two tribes, in this game the tribal names will be decided by none other than the tribe itself!
-Unless otherwise stated by the mod, a Game Round will last 3 real days.
-Each Round, the two tribes will participate in an Immunity Challenge, and the losing tribe will participate in Tribal Council, voting out one of their own team members and eliminating them from the game.
2b.) Threads
- There will be a total of 7 Game Threads (Yes, 7), 1 Public Game Thread held in the Everything Else forum (this thread) as well as 6 Private. The 6 Private Threads include 1 Camp Thread and 1 Tribal Council Thread for each of the two tribes, a thread for players residing on Redemption Island (see more about Redemption Island below), and a thread for The Jury (see more about the Jury below).
- The Public Game Thread is used for:
* The Current Game State and Statistics of the Game (Such as which players have been eliminated)
* The Current Immunity Challenge (if one is going on)
* Redemption Island (see below)
- Once the game begins, players can only talk in the Public Game Thread during specified times (whether public discussion is allowed will be noted in the thread). All other talk should be directed to your tribe's Private Camp Thread.
- Your tribe's Private Camp Thread is where the majority of discussion takes place to discuss strategy with your fellow tribemates. Remember, the enemy tribe members will never be able to see these messages!
- Your tribe's Private Tribal Council Thread is where Tribal Council takes place. Remember, the enemy tribe won't see these messages either!
3.) Immunity Challenges
Immunity Challenges take place on the second real-life day of each Round and last for 24 hours. These challenges could be anything from getting the high score in an NES game, to trivia, solving a puzzle, etc. The tribe that wins Immunity from the challenge does not need to go to Tribal Council and thus does not vote out one of their own tribemates. Once the Merge happens, players attend Tribal Council every Game Round and Immunity is instead awarded to individuals.
4.) Tribal Council
At Tribal Council, players are given 12 hours (in their tribe's Private Tribal Council Thread) to argue/discuss with one another who should be voted out and why. Then, each player will PM me their vote for who will be eliminated. The player who receives the majority of the votes will be eliminated, and go to REDEMPTION ISLAND.
5.) The Merge
After a certain number of players have been eliminated, the two tribes will Merge into one team of players. At that point, all players are competing individually instead of as a tribe. All players cannot post their associated Private threads, and instead gameplay will continue for the merged tribe in the Public Game Thread. (Thus, after the Merge, Immunity Challenges, camp talk, and Tribal Council will all occur in the Public thread.)
6.) Redemption Island
Players who are voted out during Tribal Council, while eliminated from the game, have one final chance to stay alive before being eliminated entirely. This is known as Redemption Island; Players on Redemption Island will talk to each other in their own Private Game Thread, and will participate in Duels in the Public Game Thread during the first real-life day of the Game Round. Duels are 1 v. 1 challenges similar to Immunity Challenges and last for 24 hours. After each Duel, the winning player remains on Redemption Island while the losing player is permanently eliminated from the game. At the Merge, the last player who remained alive on Redemption Island will rejoin the game and have a second chance at becoming the Sole Survivor!
7.) The Hidden Immunity Idol
In addition to challenges, there will be one other way players can obtain Immunity – Hidden Immunity Idols. Each Tribe will have its own Hidden Immunity Idol. To gain a Hidden Immunity Idol, you must PM me some kind of piece of information. This "piece" could be literally anything – the title of a video game, the name of a person, anything.
Each player gets one opportunity every 24 real-life hours to make a guess as to be awarded the Hidden Immunity Idol. To make sure this isn't an impossible task, over the course of the game there will be opportunities to win Hidden Immunity Idol clues: riddles that will help its reader get one step closer to knowing what piece of info I am looking for! Hidden Immunity Idols are awarded on an individual basis through PM, meaning no one will know you have found the Hidden Immunity Idol unless you tell them. There is only 1 Hidden Immunity Idol per tribe, meaning if you find it and then another tribemate guesses the piece of info correctly at a later time, they will not be awarded a Hidden Immunity Idol. Hidden Immunity Idols can be used at any Tribal Council up until the Final 5, and is played after the votes have been cast. If you play a Hidden Immunity Idol at a Tribal Council, any votes that were cast towards you will not count.
8.) The Jury
In addition to eliminating the other players, there is one additional hurdle in becoming the SOLE SURVIVOR and winning the game. All players eliminated throughout the game become members of THE JURY. The Jury members will get their own Private thread for discussion, and decide who wins the game. Once we are at the Final 3, players are no longer eliminated and instead move to the Final Tribal Council.
9.) The Final Tribal Council
The Final Tribal Council happens in the Public Game Thread after we have reached the Final 3. At this point the Final 3 players will make opening statements as to why they deserve to win and be crowned the SOLE SURVIVOR. After which point, each of the Jury members will be allowed to ask one question to one or all of the Final 3 players (with more being allowed if there aren't to many questions), at which point those adressed finalist(s) will respond truthfully. After each member of the Jury has asked their question, each member of the Jury will PM me their vote for who should win. The player who receives the majority of the Jury votes wins the game and becomes the SOLE SURVIVOR!
10.) Alliances
The name of the game of Survivor is Outwit. Outplay. Outlast. This section of the rules is about that first part: Outwit. A huge part of the game of Survivor is not getting voted out when you are faced with Tribal Council. This is done through Alliances, bonds made between players (that are often secret), an agreement to help one another to stay in the voting majority. Many of you who have seen the reality show, the spin-offs, or played in the first season will understand what I'm saying. To help implement that aspect of the game into a Forum game, each player will be allowed to send 4 PMs to another player each real-life day (24 hours). These PMs can be sent to any player on your tribe. This means you cannot PM a player who is on the other tribe pre-Merge. Because these PMs are just between you and the other player, I cannot actively enforce this rule. Seeing as we are playing a game, I will hold you each to your word that you will follow the 4 PMs per-day rule.
Note that you are allowed 4 PMs a day. Period. Not 4 PMs per tribemate per day. Receiving a PM doesn't count against your 4 PMs, but responding to one does. This even means that if you send 4 PMs and then receive one later that day, you cannot respond to it until the next day. (The 'day' counter is reset at Midnight NA time).
11.) Random Events
To add a bit of flare to this season, there will also be a good amount of random events throughout the game. These are a "make your own decisions" sort of thing which can end in a number of ways, some good and some bad. Chances are you'll get the chance to experience one of these, so make the best of it! Also know that for some I'll be using good 'ol D20s to help randomize everything, so no experience is preplanned!
11.) Prizes
There will be a prize going to whoever wins! It's nothing astounding, just a bit more incentive in order to become the SOLE SURVIVOR!
And that's the rules of Survivor! This game was extremely fun in the past, and hopefully I can keep it as great as it was before (Only time will tell!). Either way, I hope you all enjoy the game and have fun in your fight to be the SOLE SURVIVOR! If there's any confusion about any of the rules feel free to pm me and I'll clarify as much as I can.
*Note that I might be putting on a bit of a persona for parts of the game. Know that this is for (attempted) comedic value only, so if I seem to be acting like a jerk of a host it's all intended. This is basically the Goldeneye of the Survivor universe, where this is an actual game and everything. If you see anything relating to the game world (island, physical settings, etc) then you're dealing with this guy.
