Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!

Alas, it is the start of a new week,
So for the new contest, I shall give you a sneak peek.
It is a puzzle game with pieces blue, green, red, and gray
And you need to make them all go away.
As you play, time will be ticking down.
And if you're good enough, you may win this week's scoring crown.
If you run out of time on the clock
There's no need to get mad and throw a rock.
Just toss the controller on the floor of your den,
And then pick it up and start over again.
The idea is to get a very high score,
Which will make you want to play this game even more.
This game is loads and loads of fun,
Which means this week you probably won't get out and see much sun.
So, let us make haste
For we have no more time to waste.
It's time for your old pal Bimmnic
To introduce you to Puzznic.

  • Play Puzznic Mode
  • Play until Game Over (after you use your two retries)
  • You must start the game at level 1-1
  • Take your picture when you are given the option to continue and it shows you a password
  • Honor rule : You can't pause your run to check for solutions. You can have notes when playing or check solutions on internet etc., simply do your homework outside of your official runs.
  • Highest score wins
  • Participation: 60,000
  • GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 3/26/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

This is a cool option since it basically gives players an extra full day if they're satisfied with their current score and want to get a head start on the next game.

Trying to decide whether I want to start in with Puzznic or try to lower my DD2 score to maintain third place. I haven't played any DD2 since Friday.

No way I'm winning DD 2 so I just moved on. I would think my score would be top 8 but no clue if it actually will. Either way I'm content with my performance.

I only played to this point and stopped but, isn't 99% of the battle here knowing what moves to make?  Seems especially exploitable.

Oh absolutely. Even playing it straight, once you know the solution it's just a matter of not being too hasty in your moves. There are some puzzles that you need to have good timing on or you'll screw up on it no matter if you know the solution or not. 3-2 is the first big one. 2-5 and 2-6 to a lesser degree.

It was much the same for the Wrecking Crew contest last year. I refrained from watching any Youtube playthroughs and tried to figure out how to get a high score for myself. Looking up solutions isn't against the rules but it is a lame way to play these kinds of games. I'd rather get participation than win that way.

I don't feel the same about watching Youtube playthroughs of action games. The challenge is still there even when you have a good idea what to do.

True. What's nice here is you can continue from the level you died at so you can get good practice on upcoming levels.

I've been doing this as it keeps the levels fresh in your memory so when you solve it and then start a new run, you'll remember what you did.

It seems like a lot of trial and error, and then going through the levels as fast as possible once you know how to solve them.

Are there usually multiple solutions that are better scoring than others? I noticed that you sometimes make combos that get more points.

Yeah there are some levels you can solve differently and other levels like 3-2,where you pretty much have to do it a certain way. Would love to hear Arnpoly's take on it,he's way better at the game than I am.

Combos help, but really the best way to build your score is to progress further (duh, lol) as the clear bonuses get bigger and bigger.

Unless Bea decides to play, you're probably good for 2nd place.

But yeah, Arn will annihilate that.
