Haradius ZERO Purchase linkhttps://impactsoft.booth.pm/ (Japan shipping ONLY)
For people outside of Japan, Impact Soft recommends using this intermediary site that will ship products from Booth internationally: https://www.tenso.com/en/static/lp_shop_booth

I've been quietly following the development of these two games via twitter for a little while now, and they are both seem to be shaping up well. Haradius Zero is going on sale at the DigiGe Expo in Japan tomorrow for about 5000 Yen and will be available to purchase from a site at a later date. He says that he is looking into international shipping, so as of right now it's just for shipping in Japan. Porun-Chan no Onigiri Daisuki (Porun-Chan's Love of Onigiri) is also being shown off at DigiGe Expo this weekend, but the game isn't complete yet, so they are going to be releasing a demo ROM tomorrow (I beleive just for attendees), and full release details will follow closer to release.

Here are some screenshots from Haradius ZERO, as well as some video of the game via Twitter:
A horizontally scrolling shooter, with huge enemies, and lots going on in the screen at once. You have two satellites which you can bring in close to shoot, or send far up and down for enemies out of reach.

Here are some screenshots from Porun-Chan no Onigiri Daisuki and video via Twitter:
A single screen score-chasing game. Try to catch the onigiri as it is thrown down, but don't let any of it hit the ground! many different stages, each with unique hazards and physics. Plus the game is fully playable in 2 player co-op!

There is only so much I am able to grasp with my limited Japanese, but I've sent a few messages via twitter back and forth, and they know that there is an international audience interested in their games respectively. Hopefully if enough people let them know, they will make them available for overseas purchase.

I'll be sure to update the thread with information as I learn more. But in there meantime be sure to check out their Twitter's and follow them for more updates yourself!

Been following these folks for a while, just waiting for a chance to give them money  . Keep us updated if you can! I think a few of us would gladly group/bulk buy if that makes it easier (shipping one batch versus multiple international orders).

Awesome!  Looking forward to buying a copy when it comes out (I'd gladly join the group buy if that's a thing).

I've been trying to follow them as well. Google translate doesn't always do a good job. I have a feeling the Japanese homebrew community is bigger than we think it is.

I definitely think there is still a lot more that we are unaware of. There are many more people posting on Twitter actively making new homebrew games, so I'm sure there are other communities elsewhere online that we aren't aware of.

Mook recently just posted about someone named Jiyugiga who is working on a game called Nearly Eastern Story (懐式倣緋萃). Apparently they are selling the demo ROM at the DigiGe Expo today as well. I even found a site that will mail you a download code of the demo for ~$5 (Here), however the one being sold at the expo is an updated version of the game if I'm not mistaken.

It's a pretty simple fighting game as it only has 3 characters and stages from what I can see so far, but looks fun nonetheless!

I'm sure this rabbithole goes even deeper and deeper too. I'll be sure to lookout for more games, and try to ask other developers if they know of anymore too.

It's really neat to see that Japan has a homebrew scene as well. I'd love to meet some of these guys while I live here and try to bridge the gap between both scenes

Yeah, I've been doing some inquiry as well. I'm for sure interested, just bummed it seems so many of them are hesitant to ship outside JPN.

I'm interested in these as well. If someone here can get contacts, even who can just ship within Japan, I'm sure I can find someone on my end who could get them to me, and then to everyone here, of course at cost.

Soooo... apparently without much warning, Impact Soft put their game for sale online via Booth... and sold out nearly immediately.
They haven't commented on the sale of the games yet, but the site has Email notifications for when the game goes on sale again.

Edit: Booth is only for sale in Japan, but they have a partnership with tenso.com to ship products from Booth internationally.
Again though, who knows when the game will go back for sale -- and Impact Soft has said that they are looking into using a different site for shipping internationally, so we will see.

Bummer, hope we can grab a copy soon. Also, I just noticed it (Haradius) was originally an MSX game from 1991. The developer was Impact Soft. Same people? If so, that is awesome.

So here are two more games I dug up through the twitter catacombs:

1. 西武ロードリスト蘭のチップチューン地獄 (Seibu Road List Orchid Chiptune Hell) By Progressive Games
This is a Japanese visual novel text adventure heavily based around chiptune music, and chiptune DJs. Obviously it's all in Japanese, so it near impossible to play without a good amount of Kanji knowledge. However it features some great music, and extremely well drawn full screen 8-bit visuals. It even starts with some cool digitized speach. The full game is available to download for ~$30, or you can download the demo from the following website: http://www.dlsite.com/home/work/=/product_id/RJ238358.html
You can also read more information about the game from Progressive Games' website: http://progressivegames.wixsite.com/ys42/game

2. 東方老桜夢 (Touhou Cherry Tree Dream) By KYOSKE
This is a Touhou style bullet hell game featuring tons of enemies on screen, and of course insurmountable bullets. It's still in development so while there is naturally a bit of flickering and some slowdown, it's a very true-to-form Touhou game. There are some really cool and complex boss sequences, as well as multiple playable characters. The music is also very well made, and has some great visuals. the game is still in development, but the developer posts new version update as they are made to their website: http://kyoske.sakura.ne.jp/

It's definitely cool to be stumbling accross even more of these games. I'll try to keep up with development, and more importantly, post undates if any of them make cartridge releases in the near future.
Kinda nice to see lots of genres being represented here, and not only action platformers (despite how much I enjoy that genre).

Only that it will be available overseas, and that he is working on a NES version with Paul/INL.

Regarding Haradius Zero, since I know the author and helping for the English version to be available in the future in NES format, I would say very unlikely. The homebrew community is mostly cart based in Japan so selling the rom is not common.

FC version should be available at the beginning of November unless some last minutes issues occurs during development. It should be available in Akihabara and online but I don't know about the details for the online part yet.

edit:

I talked with him today and regarding the nes version, a small batch will be done after the November release. As for how many will be available, box, manual etc, and when, I should receice more information later on this subject.
