Tonight I played Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3. Played some Golden Axe and Altered Beast. But I spent most of my time playing Shining in the Darkness. I've never been a fan of RPGs but I feel like I'm missing out by not playing them. So I thought maybe an older one would be a little easier to get into and find a comfort level and direction with. So far I'm having some fun grinding and leveling up. Haven't found the other 2 members of my party yet. I'm hoping it picks up a bit when I've got them with me. I think my character is Level 4 right now. Finally upgraded to the short sword so I should be able to go further into the dungeon next time I play.

Being gone from home for 5 days I was totally missing my old games. I played for a few minutes tonight , but I'm looking forward to really getting back in to it tomorrow. I'm really wanting to play some Atari.

My wife and I made the hour trip south to Waco today so she could see how to get to what looks like will be her new job soon. We partially justified the trip by going Fuddruckers since there is one in Waco and she loves it. There also happened to be a game store in the same shopping center so we stopped by. I came away with Fight Night on Atari 7800, Centurion Defender of Rome on Genesis, and Missile Command for PS1 all for $15. Centurion appears to be a dead cart which has me disappointed. I can trade it in at the location nearest me but they probably don't have a copy on hand for me to swap, I'd have to pick a different game equal value. I've cleaned the hell out of it. Not even getting any dirt off the contacts at this point. I can get the copyrights screen to load but it won't load the Sega screen or title screen. I'll try another rigorous cleaning before I give up on it. BTW Fight Night looks like absolute shit. Lot's of distortion and mostly in black and white. I only get a clear picture when a special move happens. I tried taking out the Atari video/audio cable and using the thickest component cable I have instead and there was no difference. Anyone have any ideas why? I have a similar problem on Pole Position II on the track select screen, but it clears up for gameplay.

Well my first day back at work after close to a week off sucked. Not because it was bad or hard in any way. Just takes a day to get back into job routine. My co-worker is on vaca tomorrow so it will be an unusual day again tomorrow but nothing I can't handle. At least it will be the weekend again after only 2 days of work. I'll be ready for next week after the weekend for sure.

I thought of this joke when you said your co-worker is on vacation.

Two guys work for the city: one furiously digs a hole, the other quickly fills the hole.

A confused passerby asks: "Why do you dig a hole and fill it up again?"

The digger leans on his shovel and replies: "The lazy jackass who plants the trees is sick again today."

Went into Harvard for a school event today, I got to play a tabletop Pac Man game for 2 or 3 minutes before leaving and got half way up to beating the high score on it. I left Pac Man in a safe spot, and I'm happy to think someone was able to at least get the other half of it and beat the high score  .

Nothing like working a 12hr shift on nights and come up one take 3 shots of rum to end day and get some sleep regardless what the cats think. Viva los whatever is popular at the time.

A whole week without a post in here :/. The question is do we go out in a blaze of glory and end this on a high note, or do we take it slow and enjoy this until it eventually gets locked. The last one sounds boring, so who wants to take this to 5500  .

The past couple nights I've been trying to play various games on various systems but nothing seemed appealing. Just couldn't get in to anything. The usual stuff like SMB or Zelda just wasn't working for me. Nothing on PlayStation was working for me either until I put in GTA V and went on some rampages. That hit the spot. I guess I just need some Grand Theft Auto in my life from time to time.

I have been playing the story mode after only playing online for a few years. I am not sure why it is so great as people claim. I haven't made much progress, but it feels like there is so much time in between missions etc. Maybe I just enjoy playing multiplayer modes much more. Hopefully the storyline gets better.

I think GTA IV had a better story than GTA V does.   It does pick up after you meet Trevor though.

That is what I have heard. Trevor basically makes the game good. We shall see. I am doing 2 or 3 missions at a time.

It kind of eases you into it until that point.  Trevor is fucking insane, which just makes everything hilarious.

I don't think everyone is playing for story. More just to mess around in a massive playground. Have you ever seen those GTA stunt videos? They're pretty fun

I really enjoy the story mode in GTA V.  It does ease you in for sure.  Then the shit hits the fan when Trevor comes in.  There is a period when you can't go back into the city which kind of sucks, but it's balls out once you can go back into the city.  The heist is fun.  I'll leave out the other high points to avoid spoilers.

Looked in the Can NA beat every NES Game in 2017 thread and saw Al Unser Juniors Turbo Racing is still up for grabs. That's one of the few left that I actually own and I think I'm going to take a crack at it. I just played it for about 20 minutes to see if I think it's something I can actually pull off. It will take some effort but I'm going to go for it. I bought this game 2 or 3 years ago but only played it a couple times. Now I have a reason to spend some quality time with it and learn all the tracks and make a run at winning a season. When I was a kid this game is one I would rent from Blockbuster from time to time and play the hell out of it for a weekend. It's fun to get hooked on it again almost 30 years later.

Played Turbo Racing again for a bit tonight but only had about a half hour with it. Looks like I'm going to end up using my first run through a Grand Prix season just as a chance to learn the tracks since I'm only taking a couple practice laps then moving on to qualifying. So far I'm managing to qualify between 10 and 14 but keep getting knocked to the back in the first few turns of the race. With only 6 laps per race I'm learning to navigate the turns with traffic the first few laps, then the last 3 laps charging from the back only to end up finishing around 8th place. I'm fine with this for now since I need to learn the tracks and practices with no traffic don't seem to help me much. I'm going to run through a season over the next week or two then take a serious shot at beating Al Unser Jrs ass!

Yeah, he ended up getting 2 $200 prizes with the OP coming back shortly after the person who took over sent out his $200 prize. Plus Me and Bert ended up getting $30 in NES controller overlays for getting 5001 and 4999.
